Many of the new writers are cheaper than a tank of gas nowadays. Masqueeta, you really have nothing to lose, think of it as an upgrade.
Reformatting a hard drive is always a last resort method.
The last time i did it, it took me four days to reload all my programs.
The best way of doing this is to get Ghost and save a drive image to your second hard drive. I create a new image prior to adding new hardware or periodically when I feel my system is ok. If I have problems that I can't handle, I just restore the last image. It takes about 15 minutes and I'm back to normal. It's been a life saver to me.

And you are right! I pulled up the wrong model #. That one is still listed as, "In Stock". When you tried to purchase it did it tell you that it was on back order?

Not to worry maskeeta - let's get you burning again and we'll teach all about booktyping :) Very Easy
But yep you're on the right track - makes the a +r appear as a dvd-rom - almost universally compatible.
@rbrock
25 bucks if you don't count the cost of the cable :)

Just the opposite of what you said. The burner should be set to master.

Nero automatically cvhanged the booktype to DVD-ROM. but in DVD Decrypter when I right click on the Destination drive it doesnt give me an option to change the booktype. it says it in Imgburn though, are those basically the same and should i use imgburn from now on?

Hey maskeeta
Wow! You are burning again :) Good deal.
Probably learned a bit in the process too
With this drive and the verb (?) media you were using 6x or 8x should be fine to burn at. Try 6x and see if your dvd player is fine w/ it.
Ok Decrypter and ImgBurn are basically the same - same developer.
Decrypter (no longer updated) will also rip though.
ImgBurn can't but it can convert a video_ts folder to iso and burn. Decrypter can only burn iso files. I use them both - just depends.
In Decrypter & ImgBurn click on what looks like a book (see pic of decrypter - both are the same) for booktyping. Thn pick the drive, media type & settings

@maskeeta
Burn them at 6x - 2.4x is a bit too slow imo. The 16x Verbs you were using will probably do better at a higher speed. The 8x too.
As long as you players play them you are good to go.
8x is the slowest I burn - and no playback problems on the good media.
