oliblake, don't know why the file sizes change but use DVD Shrink to fix the problem or use Nero vision express.

vfapi is a plugin server, you change the priority of the plugin your having problems with, not change vfapi itself.

what i wanted to do was put 2 divx/xvid files on to one dvd, and i tried doing it with Nero but it crashed after 30 minutes. DVD Shrink wont accept AVI files. some xvid/divx files work with TMPGEnc, but some are too big to fit on dvd

all there is in TMPGEnc 3.0 Xpress is Options and Preferences. ive tried moving the plugins around in the VFAPI section but it still comes up with the VFAPI frame server error, when i try to encode a divx/xvid file.

i thought people were meant to help on this forum. i NEED to know why TMPGEnc makes xvid/divx files way too big to fit on a dvd and i want to fix it. TMPGEnc 3.0 Xpress doesnt work at all cos of the stupid VPAFI frame server!!!

They are not too big. Normal DVDs can hold 120 mins of video. You can increase that to over 400 mins if you use VCD format. (Yes you can author dvds using VCD inputs)!!!!!

Joe777, if VirtualDub is stopping the audio extraction at a certain point, there are only a few things that could be wrong.

1. Corrupted file
2. No space on HDD
3. Not enough resources (mem and or processor)

But sounds like it's number 1 to me. Virtual dub has never frozen on me or any of my hundreds of avis.

the reason v dub gives for stoping extraction was "possible live lock".I have never heard of live-lock before has anyone else heard of it.A few times i have seen v dub saying that it cannot read a certain sector due to corruption and it stops extracting but never anything about live-lock.Any ideas. And the most strangest thing is that the file will play from start to finish without any probs only when encoding all the probs start.Strange but true.

i am having a problem with TMPGEnc. I have 3.0 Xpress, and I am trying to do AVI to mpg. I did it before with the same ionstallation and it worked fine. now when it tries to convert, it only reads the first few frames of the video but all of the audio. it just stops at a certain frame and the audio keeps going. does anybody know of a certani codec that might be causing this because i installed some new ones recently.

Hi,

i have a question that I hope it can be answered here. I have two files for one movie. The movie being King Arthur.

I was wondering if it was possible to put both movie files onto ONE DVD+R or DVD-R?

Is this possible and if so what programs do I need?

depends on what kind of files you have, and the file size.they need to be around 4 gigs total. if they are avi, i would suggest tmpgenc, because to can fuse two files together without the weird "joining effect." if used right, you can make DVD compliant video files and then use an authoring program like DVD-Lab. If they are already mpeg2, with 48khz audio, etc., then just get the free trial of DVD-Lab and just have the two files as separate movies. DVD-Lab is very easy to use, and I think it has a guide somewhere. Then just use Nero or something to burn the vob, ifo, and bup files.

Hi.. I use TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 to convet my Divx file to an audio and video source. Then, i use IFOEdit to author... the problem is when i burn the DVD, everything is fine (video and sound and synchronization of both) but the image is ALWAYS displays full screen and the image looks too stretched! How can i modify the VOB file to more of a widescreen look?? All the DivX files I download are widescreen rips anyways, but after convertion they look like full screen, stretched movies on DVD. How can I resize these VOB files and what tool do I use? Is this the best method for resizing?? Thanks for reading...

Hi,
I'm having trouble converting an Xvid movie to mpeg-2 format. The movie is 93 minutes long but I unable to shrink the file down to fit on a DVD-r. I'm using TMPGEnc and haven't had problems with larger files. Any help would be appreciated.

you can just lower the datarate, (i.e. the kilobits per second) to a level where the filesize will fit on a DVD-R. Anything around 6400 kbps should do the job, and that shouldnt be hard to do.
let us know how it works out.

The problem is that I can only lower the bit rate to 2000 and it is still to large. I also lessened the audio to the lowest bit rate but no avail.

Oh and another question. I haven't experienced with many different brands of DVD-R's. Is the their a good brand that will work on most DVD players?

which version of TMPGEnc are you using? I have experience with 3.0 XPress but have never used the 2.5 free one. If you are using 3 Xpress, then it might have to do with your selection in the field where it has the different types of media. If that doesn't work, then try MPEG output.

As for differnt kinds of DVD-Rs, I have been using Verbatim/MCCs 12x DVD+Rs for a long time and have never once experienced the pain of a coaster and they play perfectly on my JVC XV-N55SL, even self authored ones in SIF mode.

Ok I now have the TMPGenc Express 3.0 but now when I start the program I get an error "Read error occured at address 01C38E82 of modual 'wm9.vme' with 00000000." Has anyone had this?

that appears to be a lack of the Windows Media 9 codec. Does the program still work after it shows this message? If it does, then it will prbably work fine as long as you're not using a wmv. If you want to be sure, install the WM9 codec; if you already have it installed, then re-install TMPGEnc.
