I think you'd be ok without the UMD drive. On acidmods a guy replaced his UMD drive with a holder for a portable HD (for PSP I believe).

Okay, and yep, ive read that thread.

i usually check the acidmods forums like once in a week.

but thanks for info. also i sometime need to disassemble the psp properly and cut the umd door.

as i dont have dremel, what would be the best/cleanest way...?

Same questions/my DX package came arrived today. now my analog is perfect as usual.

only thing is that it is white...maybe i'll post a pic cos ive changed like half of the all buttons...

There is a guide for cutting the UMD door out on acidmods and youtube. I think the guy uses a jewelers saw and sand paper.
