It gets past the encode then gets an error and kicks the disc out. I am using dvdshrink 3.2 have preferances set to dvd9 this is burning a dvddecryptor file. This is the first time I have attempted dual layer.
I have a nec 2500a with updated firmware and dvdinfopro and nero tools both show the drive having dvd+RDL in both read and write catagories.

Here is the error, I didn't copy it all, it kept on going with times and what not.

You shouldn't even be needing DVD Shrink for a DL disc as it's primarily used as a compression tool. All you need to do is rip the movie to your HDD with DVDFab HD Decrypter and then burn with Imgburn in "build" mode. One two punch...You haven't included an entire log so we can't see what type of discs you are using, but I can tell you if you are using anything other than Verbatim DL discs you will probably continue to have problems. Also, although firmware is current, your drive is getting a little old...if you continue to have errors it might be time for a replacement.

Imgburn "build" mode guide: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=1780

I am using some office depot discs that are DVD+RDL 2.4x8.5GB
I tried the image burn but it wouldn't work that way either.

More than likely due to the discs you are using or your "older" drive or a combination of the two.

ok so I think it was the firmware, it would not even burn a dvd5. I changed it to v 1.09 (factory stuff) and it burned dvd5. I have tried a few versions of 1.07 beta 5 with no luck, including following the instructions on this webpage
http://www.absoluteinsight.net/1205 I had version 5.1.2535.0 but right before I did the burn and and did the 1.07 version on the website above, So I beleive I actually downgraded, but the 5.1.2535.0 worked fine on dvd5. Does anyone know where I can get it again or a better version?

You should really delete your serial number from your logs and edit them out in your previous postings....

This could probably be compressed easily with DVD Shrink and you could use a SL disc.

Your drive isn't even seeing the media...there should be two more lines here that give the MID and other information about your blank. Firmware may fix this, but if it doesn't you will either need to try different media or get a new drive.

Again, you are asking the drive to do something that it doesn't know how to do with your media. See above suggestion.

This is Nero's own packet writing software that tends to bugger up the burning with some applications, including it's own. I would suggest removing it via this tool:

thanks for the help and for deleting my serial #

I tried to use the liggy dee firmware but when I unzip it using winrar I just get a bin file that opens up a text screen that does not update to the drive. What am I doing wrong, I would like dual layer just so I don't have to compress longer movies.

Download Binflash Win32 GUI from here:

http://binflash.cdfreaks.com/

it will extract the .bin and flash your firmware. Make sure no discs are in the drive and you are not multitasking while you flash.
