I'm tampering with my settings at the moment, and i was wonder what they all meant..extracting the image with iso..is alot quicker or the same as extracting the files 1 by 1? and what is Hide audio and subpicture streams of insignificant size? enable overlapping I/O - this may increase ripping performance? read 32KB blocks? anyone know what they do and if its able to speed up my extracting process to make it quicker..but having the same quailty as to 1:1 dvd...burning is not a problem for me..just extracting it and the time..
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. None of the settings you mention are going to make Dvd Shrink Analyze & Encode faster. You want to speed it up, get a faster more powerful machine than you have. Never put anything on a single layer that's less than 90%, if it is use Dual Layer & you don't have to worry about Dvd Shrink at all. You might want to look in to a little program called MultiShrink & you can do a whole batch, while you sleep.
thanks for the reply..id also like to know what those settings do...it takes me a minute to extract each files..like an hr and 45 minute would take me and hr and 45 minutes to extract onto my computer..a minute each file basically..i like to rip my movies like how they are with the movie menu and everything, quality etc..but i hate waiting for it to finish..i dont touch or use my computer when encoding..or burning so thats 2 hours tops.any ideas to spped up that process..im looking into that MutiShrink..Anydvd..alcohol, and what else is out there?
thanks again!
specs of my computer i know of

I take it you always want to fit the full dvd on to a single layer blank no matter what the Compression % says. Before you even start Dvd Shrink there is a program you should use called MenuShrink, it will save you MBs. Dvd Shrink / Edit / Preferences / Stream Selections / Audio Language & Coding Type:=English / AC3 or LPCM / Subpicture Language=English, this is only if you want to keep English. When you open the file up in Dvd Shrink, main movie will be highlighted, uncheck all audio except 5.1 unless it only has Stereo. Do you see what I am talking about here, it's all about unchecking boxes to get rid of stuff that you don't recquire to get that compression % up. When Dvd Shrink starts to Analyze uncheck the video preview box. Now I don't know how much this will cut the time down, maybe not a whole lot, then you will have to look at upgrading.
ill give it a try during my Christmas break..thank you very much for your help...i believe i tried hat before but i forgot what results it gave me...thanks again tho
