If I understandandu corectly, both of you use the same programs, DVD Shink+DVD43 to decrypt/rip, and DVD Decrypter to burn, right?
The reason why you get "one file" that you can put in DVD Decrypter and burn is because probably your destination in DVD Shrnk is set save as an ISO; your friend's on the other hand, probably is set to create a folder on the HDD.It creates an Audio_TS folder, which is empty, and an Video_TS folder. That folder includes all that is in that ISO file, a bunch of VOB and IFO files, "wrapped up" into an ISO.You can load all those files back into DVD Shrink and make an ISO to burn with DVD Decrypter, or get Imgburn (is free) and burn the Vido_TS folder ont a DVD-Video.
Edit: Instead of DVD43 I would get DVDFab HD Decrypter http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm. It is free and up to date .

Agree with both Zoso and Cyprusrom here: Replace dvd43 with something more user friendly and that does a better job. Do that, then you or your friend try again and let us know. Here's another guide to add to Zoso's which may help.

Is your HDD set up as NTFS and you friend's HDD set up as Fat32 ? if so this explains how the files split up.

fat32 maximum single file size is 4 gigs whereas ntfs is beyond that.

Who formats their drive using the fat32 file system anymore?
I agree with cyprusrom.
You probably have shrink set to output a single ISO image file that DVD decrypter will recognize and burn to disk, your friend may have shrink set to output the video files to a hard drisk folder (VIDEO_TS folder containing .vob, ifo, and .bup files).
So..Set Shrink to output a ISO image file, if you want the file to be autoburned to disk, select ISO image file and burn with DVD decrypter from the dropdown menu.

@ddp
I'm sure you have your reasons for doing so and it does have certain advantages (with win98 you have no choice), but the average computer user (like glade73 seems to be) will of had their hard drive preformatted with the OS pre-installed by an experienced indvidual (XP or Vista using the NTFS file system).
Now, if glade73's computer use and knowledge was beyond that of an average user (like that of a more experienced user), he/she would of known what file system was used and why 4GB file sizes were present if a fat32 format was done.
An easy check:
goto>> mycomputer, right click on the Local Disk c: drive and choose properties....the general tab will display the file system used.
