Ok, I've seen similar threads but not specifically addressed the issue i'm seeing so here it is...

My brother sold a guy a brand new unopened ps3 that was more than likely stolen so surprisingly there is no reciept. I don't know what firmware was on it or if he downloaded anything (I guess that will be the next thing I ask him) but now when you turn the system on it says press the PS button, once you do that the only options it gives you is to turn off the controller or the system. No dics boot, no other options come up.

I don't have a ps3 myself so I am not fimiliar enough to understand the problem, but I figured I'd check with my favorite forum that almost always seem to have answers. Worst case scenerio my bro will buy a new one and pull da old switch-a-roo.

It sounds likethe person who is doing it is holding in the PS button,it only has to be pressed lightly once.

Let me add that I do have a 360 and my brother now has his working ps3 and the non working one side by side, the problem is a little more complicated that just holding down the ps button, but thanks for the reply.
