Problems with shrink - burn errors

OK I've been using this great program with satisfaction for several years now but now there's a problem. It started after I deleted and reinstalled a program that takes video files and creates a dvd you can play in any dvd player. Now Shrink and decrypter keep giving me error messages. I've since deleted the dvd creator program (it sucked anyway) and I deleted & reinstalled Shrink. I still got a "cyclic redundancy check" error" but after several trys it did work. Today I tried and got the following error message half way through the process:

Usually indicates a dirty/scratched/bad disc, or in other cases an encryption that's too tough for Shrink to handle on it's own. Try ripping to HDD using DvdFab Hd Decrypter, then transcode with Shrink.

I wasn't doing anything other than running Shrink. I usually start it and go watch tv or something.

Burning at X16 is not a good ideea. X4 I think is overkill.Half the speed of the disc should be okay.
As for Robocop, he shouldn't be that big of a problem. When was the disc released?
You have to do a virus check. If you don't have an antivirus, you can do an online scan with Trend Micro House Call . Download an run SpybotSD and Ad-Aware, wery good free programs.

Are you kidding? LOL I recently got a taste of 16x speed and your telling me to slow down?
Agree with cyprusrom. Burning at 16x is a real quick way to NOT have a good quality back up.
I forgot to mention the media, thanks cyprus for covering on that one. :-P

You can multitask, I do with every dvd I have ever copied and everyone reads find and have NEVER had a problem with shrink or any other program that I own.
I should say, you CAN multitask IF you have RAM.

If you have enough,fast Ram. In his case, 500MB needs to be shared by the OS and the burn, no much left for something else.

Kudos for you, but like I said, in his case, is recommended not to multitask.
I am doing alright with 512MB. Haven't had a failed burn(knock in wood) for almost 2 years.

Yeah sorry if I'm comin off cocky, thats not my intention. You are 100% correct when you say that he should not try to multitask (with what he has).

On my desktop (which I built) the frontside bus speed is 1333 MHz x 2
On my laptop (which is an hp) the frontside bus speed is 667 MHz
and for the record, I'm not a gamer, I'm a musician.

Sublight! Mine is still in Mach speed, or lower! 8GB Ram-I don't even have slots for that much!
Mine is a Gateway machine from 2000 , AMD Athlon @ 950 Mhz. I got it 3 years ago(someone upgraded and gave it away, so I picked it up for nothing ),I formated it, put an XP Pro and I added another stick of RAM to make it 512MB. Came with a DVD-ROM drive, I threw in a burner...Still can't find a reason to get get rid of it and get something new, since...it won't quit. I have no problems burning/converting whatsoever, and performs great with the only game that I play online, Warcraft. As for multitasking- my burner seems to have enough buffer:)!
