There is a completely different forum just for X copy problems. You should check there. Make sure anti-virus programs are shut down. Also any programs running from startup in background should be turned off. Remove any packet writing software like direct cd, drag to disc, In cd, DLA. X copy doesn't like them. Make sure you have latest versions of Express and Platinum. Both should be Ver 3.2.1 Jerry

Thanks Jerry. I did ask in that forum and the post still stands with no replies.

It happened again today and theres no other programs running. It reads all the way to the end and then closes all by itself with no signs of anything it just read. I've re-installed the program twice with the same problem. I even went so far as to remove platinum and go back to express and it still did it. Im stumped.

Dude,
Do your self a favour and delete all 321 studios software from your hard drive and down load dvdshrink v3.0 beta 5. You won,t ever have trouble again. I also bought their software with more problems than success.

I love shrink. I just thought i'd give platinum a try. Shrink with Nero has produced nothing but perfect backups for me. I still want to know why it shuts off after reading the dvd. I'm more aggravated than anything.

XOOMZ You have to delete all of 321 Software don't save any files anywhere and then go to 321 web site and download again fresh. And before you do this remove any other ripping software and download that after if it is recoverable.

Xoomz I have ran into the same problem. I uninstalled all of my burning software, went through the registry manually and eliminated most of the keys and still had no luck with a fresh reinstall with new downloaded files. However, the difference in our situation is that my temp folder actually had all of the files needed to burn the movie with Nero, but it did not include the menus as the website said it would. Perhaps you have to used advanced mode to get the menus, but DVD Shrink so far seems to be easier anyways and less processor intensive.

If anyone solves this mystery I would be anxious to know the result. My buddy used the same files that I used to install Platinum XCopy and it works just fine for him. The difference in that scenario is he did not have a previous burner or any burning software installed, as where i had Nero 6 Ultra Edition installed and NTI DVD Maker Software. I think the pcouffin.sys driver isn't working as it should or interferes with the other ASPI drivers.

Caring is sharing!
