DVD Shrink errors

Hi, I have a weird problem I can't figure out. I searched the forums and can't find this topic. My desktop has a DVD Drive and a DVD Burner. All worked fine not too long ago. I use AnyDVD and DVDshrink. AnyDVD doesnt scan sometimes at random and says AnyDVD is disabled for this drive. Other times AnyDVD scans and DVDShrink will fail while encoding saying just Operation Failed.
In device Manager IDE Controllers show up listed under "Unknown". I can't find out why that is. That might have something to do with it. Primary and Secondary are both listed though when you expand unknown and listed as DMA. Everything works fine on my laptop.
I doubt it's the drives. I should still be able to run the disc right on the burner and encode from there, but I run into the same issue.
Any ideas? I am stumped. Thanks.

Go back to your IDE Controllers, try uninstalling the "unknown" then reboot, letting Windows detect it.
