Thousands of fans sign a "save HD DVD" petition

article published on 21 January, 2008

So far, over six thousand HD DVD fans have signed an online petition that is urging, maybe pleading, for Warner Home Entertainment to reconsider its decision to drop the next gen format in favor of Blu-ray. The petition, first posted two weeks ago, takes issue with Warner's press release that explains that the "consumer has clearly chosen Blu-ray," and instead points out HD DVD's lower ... [ read the full article ]

signing this aint gonna make much difference at all, like warner are gonna change their mind because 6,000 people went and signed a petition, maybe if these people went and bought 3 or 4 hddvds each they could show warner that hddvd isn't dying by boosting there disc sales

People shouldn't sign **it. Lets all do everybody a favor and end this format war SOON. I have both formats and have to go with Blu-ray. I'm sick and tried of buying HD-DVDs for Universal Pictures films only and Parmount's Tranformers. Blu-Ray all the way!

Whats a petition going to do? the consumers have made up there mind so they jumped ship. Bad luck to the idiots that thought HD DVD would win and bought players and movies.

Ill just not buy either of them and wait until this shit is all over, but just to put on record id rather have hd dvd win, since sony seems to do way too many firmware updates and screw over their consumers once in a while, like with the psp.
I know my decision is very bias and also not based on any strong facts, but thats just how I feel about this matter.

There's petitions out there for everything they're sad and they never work. The only time a petition works is if the company tells you that if u get X amount of signatures they'll do something.

Blu-Ray or HD-DVD...dont matter to me which one wins, as both play nicely from my hard drive with PowerDVD. :)

Im sure they have there reasons aside from the Obvios for a petition.
i dont care anymore this format war is over. i backed hd-dvd several times, quite frankly they deserve to loose. they had a bad market stratgy, they didnt care anyway they gave up 2 years into the format war.

Hd-dvd did have its Performance over price ratio. HD-dvd was right consumers want cheap, but average joe isnt gunna know what it is or even exists for that matter, if theres no ADs

I agree %110. How are you gonna sell something when no one knows about it. They treat it like it was on the Black Market or somethin'...

may seem like a bit when you first read this but when one considers the numbers its not really that large. there are around 1 million HD-DVD players sold, meaning there are 1 million owners. 6k of them signed a petition which translates to .006 percent. for some reason i think its only a matter of time before someone starts a pro blu petition, well actually just a memo congratulating warner's move.

the terms have been set and undisclosed to the public, the petition is simply a pathetic attempt at nothing, and a waste of time.

i pity those who signed it, one thing people must FULLY UNDERSTAND is this MARKET is not a DEMOCRACY. writing petitions, whining to congressmen, calling whomever is simply not going to change anything. the writing is on the wall and for w/e reason quite a large pill for some, the MINORITY to swallow

Funny how the fanbboy comments are flying about.
Anyone buying into the hype from either side isn't looking at the big picture!
Try reading the other articles on AD and see if you can put two and two together.

*Hint* It has to do with broadband, movie studios and your wallet!

.....about as "retarded" & "pathetic" as the Blu-ray fanclub's petition over Paramount, right?

Though they'll never admit it HD DVD is far from "sh!tty".

Unlike Blu-ray HD DVD is the complete article offering a proper range of players at a proper range of price & spec.

Blu-ray offers......an over-priced game console which is a flop in it's own market.

The Blu-ray fanclub can talk up their preferred format all they like but this is all far from over.

Anyone seeing Universal's Ken Graffeo's recent interview (HD DVD Is Here To Stay) can see that HD DVD is not about to vanish from the scene.

Yea I'm going to have to agree with you on that one 7th, I mean, this whole so called format war has just brought out the worst in people. Some people that just should never put there fingers on a keyboard are hoppen on here and just making fools of themselves.

As for the petition, not going to work, nice to see that there are dedicated supporters out there though.

Heres a great LINK everyone should read...
