dont know what to do with it i have a motorola surfboard modem and a ps3 how can i use the modem to go on the ps3 internet?

anyway plug the Ethernet cable from the modem into the ps3.

The one that comes with the PS3 is about 1.5-2m long so no will not reach from upstairs to downstairs, but ethernet cables are easy enough to get hold of at any reasonable length you want.
