Have you tried doing a clean uninstall, registry clean, defrag, then reinstalling Shrink?

If you're using shrink alone, it's also possible that the problem could be caused by a copy protection issue. Shrink just won't cut it anymore by itself and may need a little help. You could try using a free ripper such as DVDFab HD to rip with and then open the files using shrink to complete the job.

your answer sounds like good advice ,but, I put the same dvd movie on another computer and used shrink and it worked perfect. shrinked the movie and burned with nero without any problem. I believe some kind of config problem is hindering shink on my problem computer-any ideas?

If you're trying to nail down a specific title, knowing that title might help. Or does it seem to effect everything on that machine?

Any major hardware/software changes to your "problem" computer recently, other than the Dvd Shrink issue?

yffub,

A long-shot, but what 7thsinger stated about any changes made to your system reminded me of another possibility. Have you recently updated your video card?

I've seen nvidia drivers do this to shrink. This could of been due to a corruption issue or just outdated drivers, the sloution was to unistall the current drivers and reinstall the latest software from the Nvidia site.

I have also seen the nvidia drivers mess with shrink. After a friend updated his video card, he forgot to update the drivers and shrink would no longer function properly.

Uninstall/Reinstall like John123 suggested and see if that helps.

Cheers!

This just happened on my Dell 4700 with shrink. This had happened before many months ago, but when I reloaded shrink last time that fixed it. Not this time. Something got corrupt when I was making a backup.(the shrink screen just goes away) Now nothing backs up. My laptop still works fine with shrink just like yyfub. This is happening to lots of people I talk to. Nobody has a fix?

I'm suddenly having this problem as well. I click on 'backup,' and after a few seconds of nothingness, Shrink closes. I tried flashing my BIOS, that didn't help. I reinstalled Shrink and Nero, that didn't help either. I haven't updated my nVidia drivers recently, so it can't be that, either. I have two DVD burners that worked fine before today, and it freezes no matter which one I attempt to backup with. Any help I can get here is much appreciated.
