Sorry if this isn't the right fourm to post this, didn't no which one.

I'm trying to convert an .avi to dvd (avi from download), I use CCE to convert it to MPEG2, then use Maestro. I wanted to split the dvd to fit on 2 dvd-r's so I use VobBlanker (I tried Ifoedit but it crashes), so with VobBlanker I make a new chapter, I then try and open it with DVD Shrink but I get an error: "Invalid DVD navigation structure". So I try and use pgcedit, don't no how to work it so I couldn't get anything out of it and I tried FixVTS and that didn't work.

What am I doing wrong?

yo.

What you are doing wrong is using way too many applications for a simple process. CCE works with The Film Machine, will output directly to DVD. DVD Flick also works great. Both are free.

Yeah but I want good quality, and the movie is 5 hours long so it won't fit on one dvd-r, so I need to split it (and I'm not losing quality).

and the avi only has 1 chapter so it won't split unless I have 2 chapters, right?

yo.

Okay...I don't know how Maestro works and probably doesn't let you output in 2 DVDs...if you already have the DVD structure, just load it in DVD Shrink and split the DVD in 2 using the reauthor function, END/Start option. Should have the 2 DVD parts done in a few minutes.

You can split the Avi before conversion if you want.

Thats the thing, It only has 1 chapter so I can't split it, and thats why I used the other program to make 2 chapters, so I can use DVD Shrink.

How would I split the avi, VirtualDubMod? (I would like to avoid this way, last choice)

yo.

You do not need chapters to use DVD Shrink to split the movie. You don't split by chapters, you split the movie at exact position you want.

To split the avi, yo can use Avidemux , AlltoAvi , VirtualDub.
