Hello everybody, this is my first tutorial for Afterdawn,it might not be perfect but i hope it helps in some way.
First of all you need to download a few programs.
1.PS3 Theme Builder 2.1 - http://www.lili-chan.com/downloads.htm (Creators Site)
2.MFAudio v1.1 - http://members.lycos.co.uk/ripperoo/gta3/utilities/ (I downloaded it from here it was a pain to find)(pop up banner shows at the start so make sure you have your pop up blocker ON,sorry but its the only place i could find it) This is used to convert RAW format audio to VAG audio format for use with the sound effects.
3.XnView - http://pagesperso-orange.fr/pierre.g/xnview/endownloadwin32.html (Creators Site) Go to the bottom of the page and select XnView v1.92.1 Complete version (Some Plugins/Addons & NConvert, ShellEx, Media Detector)
Server 2.
This is only needed if you dont already have a image converting tool.
4.Audio converting software to convert your audio to RAW audio format.
Ok so youve downloaded all that software, now comes the fun part, creating your own personal theme. You can keep them to yourself or upload them to the net.You can also post them on Oners thread http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/587305
Before you start.
Image sizes and formats to be aware of.
Theme information - Theme Icon and Author Icon 64x64.PNG
Icons,Colours,Font - Main Menu Icons(i always put images in these) ALL 128x128.PNG
Sub Menu Icons(i put in proper icons for these ones) 128x128.PNG except Default Photo File/Folder which is 170x128.PNG and Default Video File/Folder which is 228x128.PNG
Pointer Icons - 48x48.PNG
Backgrounds - HD Background 1920x1080.JPEG and SD Background 640x480.JPEG
XnView will convert all of these for you and will also batch convert.
To search for images go here, its what i always use http://images.google.co.uk/imghp?hl=en&tab=wi
Also if your looking for icons, just type in PS3 Icons into Google.
Once youve done all the image and audio converting its time to start creating that theme.
Go into the folder where PS3 Theme Builder 2.1 is and double click the file that says PS3ThemeManager,your program will open.
Select file at the top, then select new and name it.
Once thats done you can now start creating the theme, give it a name, put in your icons to the Theme Icon and Author Icon area, then enter your details-Author name, genre, url, version and comment.
Now put all your icons into the Icons,Colours,Font area.
Once thats done put in your backgrounds in Backgrounds area.
Only if you really want to go to the Additional Commands area and insert your VAG files where it says sound effects.
Once thats all done go back to the Theme information area and click on Generate Preview, then select generate and once the preview has popped up click where it says at the bottom "click here to save the preview and close"
Now all you have to do is click build theme and thats it done.
Sorry if this looks sloppy but i am rubbish at explaining things, but you should be able to understand the tutorial ok.
EDIT
Where to upload(or download if you cant be bothered creating) your PS3 themes.
These two in my opinion are of the easiest to upload to,they are the ones i use.
http://www.allps3themes.com/
http://ps3files.net/themes
But there are more and ill list some of them here.
http://www.ps3-themes.com/
http://www.ps3theme.net/browse.php?page=2
http://ps3xmbthemes.com/
I have checked all these sites and they seem to be fine, but if any of the Moderators think that they are in any way inapropriate i will delete the link.

I must be a complete tool. I followed the tutorial and all I get is a nameless theme and for some reason the the Image that I am using is not being carried over when the theme is created. All I get is the modified icons that I have created. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong???

PeterLFC can you still listen to the sound clip before you convert it to VAG,also the clip should be no longer than about 5 seconds, some of the sounds ive converted sound awful,it just takes a bit of messing around with it before you get used to it.

This is a site that is linked by the same people involved in the theme creator.

Icons are very easily found on Google, just type something like Vista Icons,as long as you follow the tutorial above you will be fine.

Thread revival for great justice.
Uh, I've got two major questions if anyone'd be willing to help.
1.) Is there any way to change the font color? The backgrounds I've got are all such that the white font just sort of fades into them.
2.) Since the new 2.50 update (I believe), a lot of the icons have been moved/erased/renamed. Is there any way to manually go into PS3 Theme Builder and reflect these changes?
Thanks, all. This program has been great to me so far, minus these minor issues.
