I've been using DVD Shrink for quite a while now without any problems. Here in the last week, I have had problems with Shrink locking up my computer to the point of reboot. I get no response from anything. Once rebooted everything works except for Shrink. I've even tried a disk that has already been backed up through Shrink. It locks up in either encoding or burning. I've been running disks through DVDFAB HD Decrypter 4 then using Shrink to put to disk. Is there anyone that has been having these problems or maybe has a solution to this problem? Thanks

Try uninstalling shrink, run a registry cleaner, then reinstall shrink.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall, but didn't use a registry cleaner. Any suggestions as to which one works best? I'm not totally computer stupid but still learning ins and outs.

after you rip with dvdfab decrypter(make sure you have the latest version BTW) use fixvts FIRST before transcoding with dvd shrink. do this if the clean reinstall doesn't solve the problem

This would suggest that it may not be a copy protection issue.

Well it worked. I deleted DVD Shrink, downloaded and ran CCLEANER, then reinstalled DVD Shrink from this site. I also ran movie through Fixvts before running through DVD shrink. I have ran this movie, American Pie Beat House, through Fixvts before the uninstall- reinstalland it didn't work then. It had to have been the registry cleaner. I appreciate the help! You guys just saved my computer from the beating of a life time! :) Thanks again for the help!!!

Well I thought I had the problem fixed. I tried a couple movies and all was good. I tried one today and the same thing as last time. Complete lockup. I ran the cleaner then tried to defrag and it lockup during the first percent of defrag. Should I be worried? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Just a long shot, but when was the last time you cleaned the inside of your computer case and made sure all the fans were working properly?
Shrink is very cpu intensive ans so can make your processor work very hard while ripping/transcoding causing it to get pretty hot. The inside of the case should be well ventilated and all fans should be working to keep things from overheating. It's possible that this could be heat related, so open up that case and make sure all is well, give it a good cleaning.
It's also possible that the powersupply may be failing under heavy load conditions, supplies are cheap and easy to replace.

or it could be your CPU failing. maybe a trip to the computer shop is in order

This would happen on a more consistant basis running other applications or even under general use, not just when shrink is being used as indicated thus far.
Random lockups and restarts are usually an indicator of a failing powersupply.
