I have been using dvd shrink on my laptop for a while, but am trying to switch over to my desktop. So I went out and purchased a dl dvd burner and installed it correctly. Tried to burn my first DVD, single layer, a success. Then burned a cd - success. But then tried DL and got this error message:

You have a problem with Nero not Shrink.
Is that the entire log? It looks incomplete.

Looks like you still have Nero 6 in the mix.

Save your serial number uninstall Nero and run the clean tools.
http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads-cleantools.html

Install the last version of Nero 7.
http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?2893

You have the bare minimum RAM needed for Nero so you might want to close some program and services.

OR try ImgBurn . It is better at burning DL.

this is the complete message; I don't really know why anything would be wrong with nero- I have never had problems using it before.

As 56delray notes, it appears you installed Nero 7 over the top of Nero 6 without running the Nero 6 Clean Tool first. That sometimes can cause problems. That's a pretty old and somewhat buggy version of Nero 7. As others have noted, ImgBurn is a better burning engine for DL disks.

Error 1020 may be a calibration error but from the log provided I cannot be sure. What media are you using? The media could be causing the error.

Uninstall Nero using the Add/Remove Program control panel. Run both the Nero 6 and Nero 7 Clean Tools. Reinstall the latest Nero 7.

I can't tell from the log what firmware version you have for the burner. 1.03 is the latest for the GSA H55L I think and is here:
