hey guys as you all know 2008 is going to be the year of the PS3,with great games such as the all powerful Tekken6,GTAIV,Haze,Kill Zoze2,DMC4 which i bought yesterday(cant wait to get stuck into that one)and whats going to be the greatest game ever MGS4. the list just goes on and on so i'll get to the point. the two games im most looking forward to is Tekken6 & MSG4 and im looking to get the best sound possible, i have two s*ny surround sound systems at home one has an hdmi in connection the other has a (Y,Pb/Cb,Pr/Cr)connection. ive been rattling me brain for the last couple of days trying to figure out a way to connect either one to the PS3 with no joy so im looking for a bit of help on this matter.1.if its possible & 2.if not what are your recomendations? (o yeah im in ireland). any help would be much appriciated!!! ;)
What exactly are you trying to do? Excuse me for asking but you mentioned a surround sound system and then you listed a component connection which is a video only connection...

Do you want to connect the PS3 to your AV reciever and send sound to your speakers and video to your TV?
The only way you can do this is if your AV receiver can decode the digital audio from your HDMI connection and then send the video via HDMI (digital) or component (analog) to your TV. Some AV receivers simply offer HDMI as a pass through. Which acts in much the same way as an AV switch box.
Or are you only looking to get digital sound?
Unless one of your AV receivers has HDMI v1.3 (Dolby TrueHD/PCM 5.1 compatible) then I would connect via HDMI (or the next best available) to your TV and use your PS3's optical/toslink connection to send digital audio to your receiver.
ok i prob mentiond the wrong cable. to be honest with you i dont really know how all of this works but what i want to do is to try & connect either one of these systems to the ps3 & have 5.1 surround sound while playing games.if its not possible to do this with either system what to you recomend i do?

There you go! :-D
You need to connect via optical/toslink from your PS3 to your surround system. If your sound system doesn't have that connection, than there is no way you can true 5.1 surround sound.
