It can play them fine, X264 is a modified version of H264 and plays on the PS3 and 360... but it also depends on what profile was used to create the X264 stream.
Did you create this file yourself?

Once you follow Sudds' link and create your new h264 file you can stream with a program called Cyberlink Media Deluxe, byfar the best program I've come across.

Not sure if it's a resourse hogger, I'm running a quad core. As for performance, by far superior to TVersity. There is no indexing or scanning or updating folders... just select which folder(s) to monitor, drop your files in and away you go.
Since there is no scanning I guess it would be less of a hog than TVersity. One other thing, the main video type I watch is M2TS, I found other streamers wouldn't work with that type, Cyberlink sees it as MPEG2, once on my PS3 HDD it's a AVC file.
Hope this helps, amy other questions let me know.

I use them files myself with TVersity just drop the "s" and it plays fine.
TVersity doesnt use that much power i only have an AMD SEMPRON 1.75Hz single thread and she streams them pretty good without any slow down or judder.
Its got alot to down with the HDD you stream them off, you need agood HDD with rpm at least 5200 and defrag the sh*t out of it often.
I use I/OBIT smart defrager and set it to defrag on start-up keeps the HDD running smoothly, cause i diid have alot of trouble with streaming and seems to of done the trick.

One my old XP machine TVersity worked fine, now I have a Vista media center and TVersity crashed it often, I had to remove it. Are you on XP or Vista?

If you're into video converting and editing a quad core is a must, and all the BS you might have heard about Vista is all hyped up. I was hesitant at first but glad I made the switch.
FYI, I have a quad core 2.4GHz, 2gigs of memory upgraded to 3.3gigs (4x1024mb) and it seems like this machine can handle just about anything...all at once. FYI 32 bit Vista maxes out at 3.3 gigs of memory, even though this machine can handle 8gigs, I would need to uprade to 64 bit Vista

hello new guy here with tversity.
i have tversity and stream wireless across my network to my 1080p tv. i have lags on the streaming process. i have a 54g wireless router and my computer is a pentium d945 dual core with 3 gb ram at pc6400 with fsb and motherboard full support of the ram at 800mhz.
question:
1- does anyone know what is causing the wireless streaming to a stop and go traffic jam ??
2- do i need a wireless N router ?? if so what specs are preferred ??
3- what is the best configuration and devices for a wireless stream ??
i can not do a wired connection since it would cludder my living room to the bedroom and create a trip hazard . the computer to router is about 30 feet and the router to ps3 is about 25 feet away.
thank you for any help you guys can provide!!!!

Well the faster the router the better, obviously... but, rather than stream I suggest copy to the HDD through TVersity or your program of choice.

hello,
thanx for the help. i would rather stream than copy tothe ps3 hd drive then watch which will take up to much time when i want to watch something.
1- is a wireless N router compatible with the ps3 or will it get jammed since the ps3 i think has a G wireless ??
2- I have a 500gb 200 SATA hd drive. if i defrag the drive with the utility you have ...that may do the trick to reduce or eliminate the stalling of the streaming ?? i am trying to stream my dvds accross the network if that makes a difference ... any help is great guys and thanx!!!

Your router should be fine.
Here is the link for the defragger.
On another note, their Advanced Windows Care Personnal is great software for optimising your PC.
I use both.

If its just a straight rip from a dvd without encoding, theres not much difference.

hello thx for the reply . i will make all the changes tonight when i get home. on a side question.
can i use tvversity to stream a website like quicksilverscreen.com ??
the website allows you to stream tv shows and movies and i have been trying to get my ps3 to stream the website. i found out after trying on the ps3 that the web browser the ps3 has sucks and will not allow. can tversity get around this by streaming the website and from the tv connected through the ps3 and wireless router i can select the show i want to watch that way ??

hello: i installed tversity and used the cccp codec pack. i have successfully streamed a dvd (3rd Rock from the sun) to my ps3 and hdtv 55 inch.
question:
1- is the quality better if i convert the media to ps3 format and then stream through tversity?? or id does not matter if in converts on the fly ??
2- the video seemed a bit grainy but not sure if because the screen is 55 inch for the dvd quality. what can i do ??
3- is their a program i can use to upconvert the dvd quality? for example i change formats of media back and forth mpeg2 to avi.
can i increase the quality by some method of upconversion of the media ?
