PS3 controller charging issue

My PS3 controller will charge through laptop and DVR via USB cable, and of course PS3.

How come it will not charge with AC adaptor (ex. Motorola V3 home charger) and also it will not charge with USB AC adaptor (an AC adaptor that has USB A type receptacle to plug with any USB cable)?

I'm sure there is enough current through AC adatpr aka mini B home charger...so it really gets me confused.

Maybe it needs a device to tell it that it has been connected and not simply a power hookup, this is only my theory though and not fact.

Just be careful what third party charger you use, it must be correct voltage and not exceed the recommended milliamps, or risk damaging your controller.
