hi :)
as Z ^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Also a "CRC" error is most often caused by bad media - it could be any of the following:
1. A dirty disc,
2. A scratched disc
3. A poor quality disc (cheap media if it happens during the "Burn" section of your work)
4. A bad disc from the Mfgr.
5. It can also be due to structural copy protection on a disk.
6. It can also be from a bad optical component in your drive.

Yeah I get the same error, but only from discs made by Showtime. The discs are clean and scratch free. I bought the first season of the Soul Food series (5 discs) and I've come across this error on 3 of the discs I've tried to back up even with AnyDVD in the backround. I think it's some kind of encryption. I'm at a loss

dvd shrink doesn't burn so what did you use? nero, imgburn or dvd decrypter?
make sure your using good media like Tayio Yuden or Verbatim burning at 4x to 8x max. or if your using the DVD plur R format booktype to DVD-ROM or use the DVD dash R format. also make sure you have to most up to date firmware for your drive burner.check here

Teelow,
If AnyDVD is updated to its most recent version, it can break through pretty much any encryption most especially long-standing titles such as Soul Food. I know AnyDVD can generate the same report; however, since it's being used for this task, try using an unbiased application to determine the encryptions present. Use A-Ray Scanner.

This was the result after trying to convert a disc to avi after ripping with the cloneddvd/anydvd combo, using movavi 4.4 as the converter and trying to play it using mpc:
the original VOB file size was 900+mb and the ouptut avi size was 180+ mb. It seems to indicate the reading of the dual disc was either incomplete or faulty. Not sure what to make of it. I'll give the new suggestions above a try. Thanks

TeeLow - i sometimes have that irritating box popup, i find the box to be completely irrelevant; seeing the picture in your post i finally googled to see how to get rid of it, and found it...
"I found what appears to be a fix to get rid of that annoying AVI Chunk Viewer, which appears to come up with certian AVI files when you have the "AVI Splitter" installed. For me, it was installed with the K-Lite codec pack, and can be disabled without uninstalling K-Lite, just use their "Codec Tweak Tool" located under your Start menu's
K-Lite Codec Pack\Configuration\ folder. Scroll down until you see AVI Splitter under 'disable...' section, and check it off (be sure to uncheck the rest that automatically get toggled on when you click AVI Splitter)

No problem, keep hold of the AVI's for a while just in case there's a genuine problem with them, but it's probably just as i posted; cheers for giving me an excuse to finally find out how to sort it out :)
