Hey! I hope Im not repeating an old question but i havnt seen anyone with quite the same problem. Basically I used dvd shrink with dvd43 a couple of years ago with no problems. Now I have reinstalled dvd shrink with anydvd on the same computer and all seems well- dvd shrink goes through amalysis and even deep analysis if required but as you press to start back up the program freezes (although other applications will run fine in the mean time). Ive left it 'turning over' for 3 hours and nothing is happening and windows explorer describes it as not responding and I cannot shut it down. can anyone help? is it software conflicts?Should I remove all security software (McAfee and Norton)?...

Hi, if DVD43 is still on your computer, uninstall it. Do a complete reinstall of DVD Shrink. You can get a frsh copy from here

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_.../dvd_shrink.cfm

Also after you uninstall dvd43 and the old shrink use ccleaner to remove all the last traces of the programs

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/deskto...ty/ccleaner.cfm

Both are free and the links are clean and virus/trojan free.

Good luck

If you are running Vista, then after installing shrink, right click on the shrink icon and go to properties. Click on compatibility and look for best. Also need to run shrink as admininstrator to make work in Vista.

Have you tried a System Restore? Roll the registry back to a time before the problem started.

I use McAfee Internet Security 2008 and WinXP pop-up stopper, never had a software driver conflict with DVDShrink. I've also used Norton Internet Security in the past without conflict issues as well.

There's several things you can do to check your system:

1. System Restore
2. Msconfig/ Diagnostic Startup
3. Computer Management/ Event Veiwer
4. Device Manager
5. Scan for viruses, spyware, malware
6. Try a different decrypter
7. Try a different burning application
8. Clean install. Run HDD search and remove any trace of the software before reinstalling.
9. Check back-up source file, corrupted, wrong format

OK so Ive tried uninstalling shrink and used cccleaner, reinstalled -same problem. Ive uninstalled anydvd and installed dvd43 (thats the combination i used to use with no problem)- still the same. I cannot understand why shrink is quite happy to do the analysis but cannot handle the 'back up' process. It should progress to 'target drive' etc menu but just 'turns over' endlessly. Any more ideas people? Thanks.

what you need to do is disable your windows firewall, and your anti-virus.

i used to run a completely up to date xp with F-secure and everything worked fine...

now i'm running a mostly up to date xp with AVG and it did the same thing. i disabled these two things and it works fine. after you press backup! it looks like it's going to hang again, but then the destination option screen comes up after about 4 seconds.

it might just be the antivirus and not the firewall, but i don't want to try, since it completely locks up dvdshrink to the point where i have to force reset the system to get rid of it...

good luck!
