Official word about Nero 8 & DVD Shrink

After 'upgrading' to nero 8 I experianced the same problem, so I wrote nero technical support. I wanted to share their reply here to let people know how much nero cares about their customer base. Here is the actual reply from their technical support after about 12 email exchanges to resolve the issue: BTW I did let them know DVD shrink works fine with nero 6 and 7.

thank you for your e-mail.

Please let me repeat that this is not a bug.

If Other programs want to use the burning engine of Nero and fail with the newest version because it has been optimized, this is no fault of Nero Software.
The development of DVD Shrink has been stopped and therefore it has not been made compatible with the current versions of our product.

This is not our fault.

Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

I have to side with Nero here. The same guy who coded DVD Shrink quit development to work for Nero and get thier own Recode working the way a transcoder should work. DVD Shrink hasn't seen support in about 4 years now and Nero has really done us all a favor by supporting the program through Nero 7 even though it is in direct competition with their own product. The issue with Nero 8 is old news anyway... http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/579890

If you are a die hard DVD Shrink user why not just use the version which calls upon Imgburn, which is a superior program IMHO, and burn with it instead of Nero.

As LOCOENG Stated just use Imgburn with this version of DVD Shrink, it works great and has no issues in Win Xp or Vista.

I have to say it works fine with IMG burn. When I 'backed up' a DVD it was smooth sailing. I appreciate the technical support. thanks.
