so i have an ipod touch and i wanted to charge it through usb on my ps3 with the ipod usb. it worked because it charged but is it a good idea, or will it later cause problems.

If it worked and caused no problems then it shouldn't cause any in the future. I connect my ipod 5.5G up to my PS3 because I use it for data storage and it works fine.

Well think of it this way, don't the sixaxis's charge up using the usb ports?

Probably not enough that it will make a difference.
