yes if it is already in dvd format like dvds. Otherwise you will need to author it with something like a dvd authoring program or tmpgenc

I assume the file is in MPEG 1 in which case you can copy it onto any CD in VCD format. Most DVD players will play VCD but check your player first just in case. However if the file is more than 700mb you will need to re-author it in order to burn to a DVD. Sonic 'my DVD' is a good programme to do this.

Thanks! How do I know if it is in DVD format? Here is the file name movie.SVCD.TS-loGisTic.Kvcd. I tried using clone dvd, the section that says "write exsisting data, process or write dvd files and ISO/UDF images" and the file size is 573,000 mb and it is MPEG. Do I use DVD-RW, or DVD+RW or just DVD-R?
Thank you for any help!

Are you sure about the filesize? If so you will need a programme that converts mpeg 2 to DVD video compliant files (you do not have DVD video files or you would have VOB, bup and ISO files). Most DVD authoring software such as Sonic or Pinnacle should render the file into DVD compliant but make sure you don't use the direct to disc option as the file is too large. After rendering you should be able to upload the files into Shrink before burning.

Is this the right one to purchase? INSTALLER DISC of SONIC MYDVD PLUS that enables you to Burn and create DVDs and VCDs Version 4.5. It's from Dell and it is only the disc. Nothing else comes with it. Then with this program installed on my computer I'll be able to render the mpeg file then pull it up on DVD Shrink? One of my file sizes is 1.10 GB and the santa one says 558 MB. Thank you again!

Any MPEG 2 file less than 700mb will burn directly to a CD to create an SVCD, although you must have SVCD compatible burning software. If you are using Nero 6 full version it should include the SVCD plugin aswell as Nero Visionexpress which should also render your MPEG 2 file to DVD video compliant so you can burn to DVD-R. You should not need to use DVD Shrink at all if the DVD files rendered are less than 4.38 Gb. Otherwise yes the Sonic disc should do the rendering job.

I tried burning from my nero burning rom 6.0 and I tried using nero smartstart. I chose option videocd and it analyzed then recoded it which took about 3 hours then my screen said wrond disc type to burn so I put in a cd-r with 120 minutes on it and then it said it wouldn't fit on the disc. This file name was movie.(VideoCD).DivX.TS.DaDuck, Are my setting wrong perhaps? Thanks!
Oh, there are two files in the movie folder I am trying to burn, one is 612,732kb and the other is 5,948kb and they both say "video clip" under file type.

I just now tried to compile a SVCD with Nero express and it said I needed the DVD-Video Plug-in. I went to the Nero downloads you mentioned for the plug-ins but don't see the one I need there. Can you tell which one I need to download from the Nero plug in page? I don't seem to be getting it right here :(

Looks like you were trying to encode to MPEG 4 (DIVX) which would increase the file size. It also looks like you have package one only of Nero 6 Ultra - you need package 2 to get the SVCD option. You can get it from here:
http://download.com.com/3000-2646-10252186.html?tag=lst-0-2 It's not cheap unfortunately but it does include their own DVD player also. Unlike 5.5 you cannot just get the SVCD plugin on its own - another reason I have steered clear of using Nero 6. It's all razamataz and offers very little over 5.5 when it comes to actual burning. Good luck.

Thanks again darlin! I do have this ahead Nero 6 ultra edition -Full- and the startsmart and I couldn't find any plug in for the SVCD to burn onto. Is it possible I have to configure my settings to be compatible with windows xp? I remember seeing that option for nt, windows 98, 200 etc etc, but there wasn't an option to set the compatabilty to my operating sytem of windows xp and I also have windows 2000 on my puter and I just looked at my two drives, one says dvd rom and the one below says dvd writer, rw and disc something but one is the h drive and the other is the g drive, should I be putting the disc in the dvd rom? I doubt it but I had to inquire being a newbie and all...:)

Nero Ulta 6 should also be for XP - try going into Nero full without the startsmart. Are you sure you have Ultra package 2? If so you will definitely have SVCD burning option. If it's not there you should contact Nero via the help menu. Your drives seem configured correctly - you won't burn anything if you put a blank disc in the DVD Rom drive!

It sounds like it. Check in the software section of this site. I don't use Nero 6 I'm afraid.

This auction ends soon "Sonic MyDvD 5.0 , burns dvr-ms to DVD" and it's up to $31.00 bucks right but why would I need this if my nero is equipped with svcd plug in? It is the Nero 6 ultra edition with nero media player it says.
I also downloaded the TPMGEnc and it says I have a free 30 day trial. Is there a free version? I am trying to use it now for an mpeg.mpg movie which is 1.10 GB and it says to use the unlimited mpeg-2 encoding feature I have to go the website and buy it then when I try and start it says "cannot be created" And I didn't see any "splitter" options There is so much to configure with the TMPGEnc I'm bot sure I am doing it all right.

Okay, I have Nero 6 ultra edition and Nero vision express. I guess I will purchase the Nero ultra package 2 edition even though when I check what is installed on my computer is the dvd plug in! :(
