All I really wanna do is have a temporary "backup" of Blu-ray movies so I can watch them later. Not even a permanent "backup" like to a disc, just to a harddrive. Ya know, say I Netflix them and don't have the time to watch it the same day but would still like to send it out for a new one as soon as possible? I used to do that with SD movies but now that I've gone HD... I'm just exploring my options.

Thanks.

as far as i know, its not cost effective yet, atleast not in my eyes. BD writers are still expensive and i dont think they support all media types (i think some dont recognize regular cd's) not to mention the amount of time it would take to back up the files off the disc. that 20 plug GB were dealing with now days. not standard dvd-dl that was around 8 GB.

my 2 cents

I am in the process of learning how to rip a BluRay iso with the PS3 SAK. I am having problems dumping over a network share to my PC. Once I have the ISO I can rip the video and audio to make a PS3 compliant video file without loss of quality. Once I can figure out my SAK problem I should be able to help you a little more.

The Blu-Ray burners are falling in price as expected just give it some more time and they will be affordable.I seen an LG Blu-Ray burner off newegg that is $300 which aint bad for Blu-Ray.You could get that and use Slysoft Anydvd and backup your Blu-Ray movies which would be quick and it gets rid of the protection. With movies it shouldn't be a problem to backup as slysoft has broke the Blu-Ray encryption. You would be able to put them on disc later on as well if you ever run out of room, because the drive I mentioned is a Blu-Ray burner. If you would like to look at the specs and see what it can do you can find it off here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136137 .
