Hi all, new guy on the eMule block here - I'm having a problem with eMule and all the solutions I've read don't seem to be helping, so I thought I'd throw this out there:
I'm using a fairly modest setup (Windows XP pro w/all service packs up-to-date, 800mhz AMD Athlon, 384 meg RAM, 150 GB HD, cable modem directly connected to computer, no router) and the problem I"m having is that whenever I start eMule and leave it up for a while, I inevitably come back and find the entire PC frozen up & have to restart. At first I thought it was my Norton Software (running Internet Security Pro. and Norton AV) so I disabled the Internet Sec. Pro and disabled auto scanning of eMule by the AV. That didn't help, so I completely shut down both programs, and that postponed the freeze-up but did not eliminate it. I then tried lowering my max connections in eMule down to like 100 or so and that didn't stop the PC from freezing up either. I finally shut down all other processes that were using any kind of CPU/RAM to see if that helped, but the damned PC is STILL freezing up after anywhere from 1 to 4 hours. It's making it impossible for me to make any kind of headway with downloads or getting up to speeds past 5 kb/sec. I used to have the same problem with eDOnkey only much worse (hence the switch to eMule). I also use Kazaa (adware version) on the same PC occasionally and never have any problems with it, nor do I have any problems with freeze ups except when I'm using eMule. Basically I'm out of ideas so if anyone's got suggestions I'd like to hear them.
