There's an easier way to find music or anything else on IRC, just use the search engine packetnews at
http://www.packetnews.com/
it provides the channels and networks, including queue listings.

nah irc search engines aint the best idea, they dont list everything and anything they do list, tonnes of people just run to download, so your best shot is to find the best channels yourself on networks (type /list) and learn how they work, for instance #warezx on rizon uses #wx to search packs! (not promoting warez, just giving an example).
Try the networks, rizon, addictz, saltek, efnet, bararcade and global-dimension!

plus the really really good channels that dont list on packetnews and ircspy. it really pays to go hunting on your own.

I don't use IRC much, i'm just lazy so i use packetnews. And i don't really like to use TMD:anything, i often run into low quality stuff, but maybe it's just me.

Well, personally I usually just use a basic file-sharing software program like kazaa or imesh for music. With the IRC and music you generally have to wait in queue which is just not worth it for a 4 meg file. That's just my opinion of course. tmd-moviez is pretty good though.

sorry man, but i just cant agree with that statement. TMD movies are some of the worst quality that anyone has ever seen. there are so many other groups out there that strive to put out good quality releases. TMD usually just grabs someone else's release and re-encodes it, and they do a poor job at it. but if you like it, i guess thast all that matters, since you are the one watching it. but seriously, they are the lowest quality there is, maybe you should try to get a movie from TMD and any other group and compare.

Dude i gotta tell you that TMD movies suck, i used to get my movies from them, but they were all in-theatre camcorder recorded. I agree that kazaa and others are still good for music, but emule, provided you have fallowed the tutorial, is so much better.

lets watch what we say as far as movies being recorded "in theater", if the wrong people viewed that, this site could be shut down. there are alot of movies available online that are not copywritten and are legal to download, we can assume thats what is being refered to in this conversation.

TMD dont release, they re-encode existing releases so they can be easily downloaded! the quality might have been shit to start, they just make it worse!

No doubt the movies are low quality. The main reason I download them is so that I can preview them and see if the real one is worth seeing. Also they do download fast.

In defense of Kazaa, it's still not that bad, i can get speeds ranging from 60-100kbs on single file transfers. On Emule the most i ever got was 90kbs in total transfers. The reason i like Emule is because it has files you'll never find on Kazaa. i don't think kazaa sucks, but i use it less and less.
ps: and yes i was speaking of non-copyrighted material in my previous post.

I average around 400Kbps on IRC, but my cable sucks. I've seen as high as 650kbps, but it's rare. usually if i'm getting something under 150Kbps, i kill it and find another source. It's nice be able to have 4-5 things coming in all over 100Kbps.

yes it's easy, to alot of people it's overwhelming at first, but i think mainly it's just because it roots back to the days of UNIX. you can survive fine on IRC and get anything you want with about 14-15 commands.

Well, when I said download fast I was refering to tmd-moviez in which the only reason they download fast is because they are small files. Kazaa isn't horrible for downloading music especially if it's a popular file. And for me it ranges from about 30 to 120 kb/s (Sometimes it can be as low as 15 and as high as 150 but those speeds are rare for me.) The thing is, I have just gotten a dsl connection. Up untill about 3 months ago I had to live with dial up:-( With dial up I would get speeds of about 2.5 kb/s to 5 kb/s. It was a miracle if I was receiving 6 kb/s. So now when I am downloading files at 75 kb/s I am just blown away :-) When downloading movies from the IRC I max-out at about 300 kb/s (songs would probably max-out at a higher rate.)

When I had my 1.5Mbit DSL, i was almost saturating my connection for some things. It was aboslute trash for a lot of things speedwise.
Of course Ive changed my ways now. :-0

ok firstly..
klite is fast no doubt but all shit files(i agree there ,darth).as far as music..and now even movies..out of thousand fake files ..u might find 5 real ones ..for new movies..
old ones ..divx files are still ok tho
but DC++ and Irc as equally fast ..almsot same speeds, sometimes better than kliet
but u do find fakes on Dc++ too!!but very small proportion ..
Irc is too cool..keep it real
as for the dude..who was asking about small file/low qual stuff ..u might wnna check out #movieexpress movies..beter qual than tmd IMHO..dunno the tech details but they look way better..than tmd stuff

depends on what you are looking for on IRC ;) IRCspy, packetnews only report what packs are being offered from the networks that decided to included themselfs on those lists which isnt always in the network/channels best interest since the RIAA, FBI etc are now starting to figure out how to check IRC for illegal copies of albums etc. the best channels are the ones that arent listed the private invite only channels which you'll have to either find on your own or have something to offer to ge given the network and channel name along with the passkey to get in / be invited.
