The thing is that there are different versions of HDMI cables. you have v1, 1.1, 1.2 1.3(a,b,c). And many products do not tell you which version you are buying

now obviously the best one to get is any of the 1.3s you DO NOT want a v1.2 or below as these are a lot slower at transfering data so not suitable for full 1080p HD content.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#HDMI_1.3 just check out the version differences here. you see 1.3s have a 10.2Gb/s rate whislt the rest have only a 4.9Gb/s rate

I got a cable from ebay the guys store is called ultimateHDcables, very cheap and a good looking cable, just get the length you need, he sells all 1.3 cables!

For short cables tests have found that cables under 5m all give good quality, so no need to splash out on a really expensive cable because you think it may be better. Only time these expensive cable are worth buying is if you need a cable 10m or more.
