I have the latest version of shrink and nero(trial so no decode) I see where if you check the burn with nero box it is supposed to open nero when shrink finishes. Mine dosen't, it's no biggie cause I am gonna buy nero when trial is up. Does anyone know if I will still be able to use the stand alone shrink with the nero and its decoder(which is really shrink v.4 but with no decryption) or will I have to rip with decryter then use nero/nero decode? sorry so windy

askyew,
DVD Shrink doesn't actually open Nero, but uses it to burn.
While burning you will see a new DVD Shrink window, giving you info about the burn taking place.
You will still be able to use DVD Shrink normally, whether Nero and Recode are installed or not. ;)
Nero Recode requires you to either rip the DVD first (with DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink for example), or use a program like AnyDVD, RegionFree in the background.
There is also a free region-free program available called DVD43 I think, but I don't know much about it.

gaz_0001, if Recode is installed on your system you should have the usual shortcut in you "Start / All Programs" menu.
If you don't, you can download it from:
Nero.com/en/nero-prog.php" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://www.Nero.com/en/nero-prog.php

Nope, tongx, 4.7GB is the maximum capacity.
Double-layers recordable are on the way though, but you'll probably need a new burner and the media might be fairly expensive to start with.

tongx, DVD Shrink "Re-author" does not allow for functionning menus.
They are converted in the process and play like "normal" video streams. ;)

stunn611, you can copy the full thing with menus or you can use the re-author mode and take out what you dont want ie the credits screens. Try it! You can download it from this site.

I started using DVD Shrink two days back.
My first DVD backup was perfect (except one or two places in menu, where it hang up).
But In my second attempt with another DVD (spoiled three DVDs), the backup DVD hangs up in Root Menu. Means whenever I ran the backup, it reaches Root Menu successfully and then select anything, it response.
I was following all the instructions given in DVD Shrink Tutorials. I have used "Full Desk Backup" and also tried "Back up with Deep Analysis". Same result!!!
Am I missing any step?

stunn611,
gaz_0001 is right. Try to run on regular DVD Player. It should work. I'm having the same problem. Not working with Power DVD, but yesterday I tested the same DVD on two different regular DVD Player and gets perfect output. Glad to know that I'm not the only one having this issue with Power DVD.
Thanks for ur support guys...
