cant get dvd shrink to work with vista need alternative

i have upgraded to vista and now my dvd shrink doesn't work i have always used it and know of no other alternative please any suggestions would be wonderful

Need more information than that ashley.

I run two pc's...one with Vista and Shrink runs fine.

Make sure you're logged on as administrator and right click the Shrink icon on your desktop. Select the compatability tab and run in comptatability mode. See if that helps.

If not you may need to uninstall, run a registry cleaner, and re-install.

well i get spanish subtitles that won't go away and no menu... for any movies... although dvd shrink says it worked fine and finished burning dvd....and what do u mean i am logged in as administrator

It doesn't seem that Vista is the problem then.

If you backup your movie in "Reauthor" mode you won't get a menu or special features. If you get Spanish subtitles you need to "untick" them and any others you don't want...they should go away by turning them off with your DVD players remote control.

Do you need a DVD Shrink guide to see how to use the program to best suit your needs?

but why is it doing things it never did before and how do i take out of reauther mode??? i will read the guide but i don't understand why all of a sudden when on vista it isn't working like it always has

DVD Shrink doesn't just change it's settings, it comes in a default state so in order for it to do something that you want it to do you'll have to configure it properly for your needs. To be in Reauthor mode you have to choose that option. Each time you use the program you'll have to choose the subtitles you want or don't want. As far as the user mode (Full Disc vs. Reauthor) I can't remember if it reverts to a "last used" state or not.

It might help if you take Vista out of the picture as it's not the problem so just focus on DVD Shrink. :) If you get stuck let us know.

well after thoroughly torchering myselrf with dvd shrink guide i know without a doubt i have dvd shrink set up right and still not burning the whole content on my dvd's and they all start part way past the beginnings of the moviel's do i was going to try the registry cleaner but can't find any... any ideas??!!

Let's start from scratch...

What is the name of the movie?
Do you want the movie only or the entire disc menus, special features and all?

1. Rip to your HDD using DVDFab HD Decrypter. If you want the whole disc use "Full Disc" mode. If you want the movie only choose "Main Movie" mode. If you don't have the latest version of DVDFab HD Decrypter get it here ~ http://dvdfab.com/download.htm ~ choose the Platinum download as the free ripper is contained within and simply choose DVDFab HD Decrypter from the splash/startup screen.

2. When the ripping is complete import your movie into DVD Shrink by clicking the Open Files radio button, browse to the VIDEO_TS folder created by DVDFab in the previous step, highlight it and click OK. Make sure you are in Full Disc mode as you've chosen the backup type you want while ripping. If the only audio you want is English 5.1, then leave it ticked in the audio section. If you don't need subtitles untick all of them or simply choose what you need and untick the rest. When you are satisfied with your selections click the Backup radio button. Click the Target Device tab and in the drop down menu under "Select Backup Target" choose Hard Disc Folder. Click OK and wait on the process to complete.

3. When the backup is complete open your VIDEO_TS folder and click on VTS_01_1.VOB and your default media player should open and begin playing your movie. Check to see that it is what you want before burning. You can also open your media player of choice, go to File -> Open file and browse to your VIDEO_TS folder...this should open the disc as well with or without menus ( I believe).

4. If you are satisfied that your movie is how you want it open Imgburn -> Mode -> Build and browse to your VIDEO_TS folder, place a blank disc in your drive and burn directly to the disc.

well i have tried multiple dvd's and with all of them i have to go to my other computer and get it to copy them using dvd shrink... b/c my new computer won't do it with whole movie... i currently am using blank dvd-r sony discs... i use nero 8 to burn and do it directly through dvd shrink no other program used... i have to check burn speed it is whatever it naturallhy sets at i want to say 16x but don't quote me
