I bought the Science of Sleep Blu-Ray recently from Amazon France for use with my USA PS3. The movie plays fine, but the special features do not boot when I select them. When asked about the problem, the studio behind the film responded:

"The Blu-Ray we made is all zone, but the extra features are made for tv (25 images per sec), and your PS3 only can read NTSC. You should be able to watch the films (A & B) wich are compatible, but the for extra features, you need a european player."

I am confused. If I am playing an all region bluray through HDMI, should it not matter if the source was encoded in PAL? Why would features on a Blu-Ray even be encoded in PAL?

Doesn't matter what the media is, a PAL encoded BD or HDDVD will not play on NTSC equipment. Join the real world... go Blu!

The only way you can play your PAL vids on the USA PS3 is if they are in m2ts format, which would mean you need to rip them to your PC (BD reader needed), then get them to your PS3.
