What is the easiest way to find them, I would use a P2p program, but they make seeding (which is illegal) mandatory, could someone either pm me or post up some useful advice?
Thanks

Best advice is too backup your own games or discs. I will never mess with downloading a huge 7gb game, which will take forever, then making sure everything is all set so you could burn it and feel safe for online play.
Much easier to get a Samsung/Kreon drive off ebay and burn your own games.I use this equation to justify spending the money,(drive$60 plus DVD+R DL($40 a 20pk of Verbatims)comes out to $100 which is less than the cost of two games at regular price.
Note** this whole process of burning a game takes a little less than an hour, way less time than if you tried to download a game off a torrent.
So for convenience, peace of mind, and respect to the game developers, Dont download games. And only backup games that you already own, although I know many dont and just rent games that they burn.

Or you could use newsgroups but like Irg32 said you should only backup games that you own, although probably everyone who is capable of playing backups doesnt own the games.

I have all those, I could do that but the rips need to be xtreme rips don't they? Anyways, it would've been fine if I could keep downloading them from uTorrent, except for the involuntary seeding; I don't want to get in trouble with my ISP.
And I've never used a newsgroup before, could you give me a name of a good app/client?

Download GrabIt and as far as newsservers go you should research as to what suits your need. I personally use Giganews because they offer a promotional service.

A news server is a site that you pay to provide you with the ability to download at a much faster speed than torrents downloads. Go here for more info http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/613471

Now I have an important question, How can I download xbox 360 backups and such without accidentally breaking the law?

Are you SURE you want to download games??? You seem VERY apprehensive and nervous about it. You could get nailed for it sure, but what are the odds? Your best bet is making backups of games you own, not pirating them from a site. You don't know what you are downloading, if they have the security files etc.

I have been nailed for it, twice, and it's a 3-strike rule.
A worker from my ISP told me it was legal to download but not to upload, so I want to make sure I don't do anything to violate the law. And they said they would stop giving me service if I get in trouble one more time.

Then don't do it. It seems like somebody is watching over everything you do. Just buy the games and back them up.

There is no way to legally download with out breaking the law. The DMCA clearly states that you can only create one backup of your software as long as you don't circumvent any protection and you make it yourself.

Is that going to be your defense in court? I'm willing to bet, just like police are not allowed to give legal advise, neither is "Chip" from the call center in India. I'd stick with asking a lawyer.

Fit, I wouldn't do it, as the others are suggesting. Especially listen to Bhetrick, he's the "Dean" around here. Your ISP is onto you and downloading 7 GB games will be a huge red flag. Not worth it man, just buy used games from GameStop. Never know, your ISP could turn you into the cops, just not worth it.

well glad to see that the Machine is back with yet another new name, however on topic, you could always just disable the uploads. its not that hard to do in utorrent, just set it to zero or whatever will cause you not to upload, and then problem solved.

but i wouldnt take the chance, i would just rip the games yourself and save you the problems. quicker and easier in my opinion.

Well straight rips don't work, do they?

Here is a copy of a message from my ISP

"Dear Subscriber,

Thank you for your cooperation and assistance. Please be aware that it is illegal to serve or distribute copyrighted files, programs or media to other Internet users, without specific permission from the copyright holder. If you, anyone in your household, or anyone else who might have access to your computers, network or *UNSECURED WIRELESS NETWORK* uses, or intends to use, peer to peer file sharing, such as Kazaa, BitTorrent, Gnutella, eDonkey, etc., please keep all copyrighted files out of your shared folder(s), disable file-sharing or make sure that no copyrighted files are flagged for sharing with other users on the Peer to Peer Network. If you are unfamiliar with how to identify or disable shared folders or file-sharing, refer to your software manual(s), help files or technical support. It has been brought to our attention that some file sharing services, such as BitTorrent and eDonkey, may require you to share the files you have downloaded or may flag all media files on your system for sharing, by default.
It is not permitted to share copyrighted material with anyone even if you purchased the media from an authorized site without expressed written permission from the copyright holder. Please be aware that further complaints of this nature may result in the interruption of your service. We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter."

So the reason I have previously been in trouble was because I was unintentionally seeding with programs like Bittorent, and my goal was to simply use Usenet instead of Bittorent so I wouldn't face that problem, but I'm not sure if that would work, and I'm still looking for info about it. Any info would be very appreciated, but at this rate I may not choose to download. Even though downloading wasn't mentioned in the message from my ISP. I just want to know how safe I am...

The last and final resort could be moving to Canada. Where I live we get away with downloading because they haven't passed the bill yet. IN the USA they have although in Canada it's a matter of time before it's illegal.

"Types Of Rips:
-Straight Rips: At this time these are impossible to do anything with. I group by the name of Pi has been releasing these lately. They are of no use at the current time though.

-Xtreme Rips (Not Patched): These are good rips that just need to be patched with the correct .bin file. I'll explain where to get these, and how to patch the files. After patched you can then burn it and it'll boot no problem.

-Xtreme Rips (Pre Patched): These files are the easiest to use, they come in .rar format like both other rips, the difference is you just have to unrar and burn. No patching required. This is the fastest way."

Just stop questioning it, a person in your situation would stop downloading games. It would be a bad move on your part.

I think in your situation I wouldn't even risk it,just make your own backups. Its not really that hard and when you download them its not guaranteed to be better then making your own.I make my own for all my consoles and I check them to make sure they are correctly made, which is something everyone should do.The catch with newsgroups is it cost money to use unlike torrents. If your gonna spend money you might as well spend it on the equipment to do it yourself.
