Hi.I'm using dvd shrink for some time now and on some backups (1 out of 10 approximately) I notice this problem:the movie freezes temporarily and the image becomes pixelated.Rarely the movie stops completely and the message:unable to read disc appears.Usually(the pixelation) happens at the end of the movie but some times even at the beginning or in the middle of the film. The dvds play fine on my computer using Power dvd but not on the ps2.They keep freezing only at particular scenes.I'm using a Teac 1.06 to burn my dvds and a modchiped ps2 as a dvd player. Please help

I had the same problems when I use my PS2 as a DVD player.
If I tried to play back-ups of source movies that had minor scratches it would pixilate, freeze and then stop playing.
The disc was Pearl Harbor, it had a radial scratch on the outside edge of the disc, about 8mm long.
I never got a cyclic rendundancy error during the ripping process.
A defect on the edge can cause problems in the middle of the movie as well as the end, due to the double layer construction of a DVD-9.

I agree with cerver7 that a PS2 is for games, not movies, my $60.00 Ebay Emerson DVD player plays everything, even my Pearl Harbor.

Playing any movie on a PS2 can be problematic and reduce the life of the machine, however, thats what its there for. I recommend using a good quality disc for any DVD Game backups or movies. Get yuorsef a premium ritek clone disc or something.
