Warner Brothers executives are claiming a huge win in the war against piracy was instrumental in 'The Dark Knight' becoming a huge hit. According to company representatives they spent months ensuring that no copies of the film would disappear, and no one was recording it in Australian theaters in the two days it ran there before its US opening.

Maybe Hollywood should concentrate on the part of that equation where the movies don't suck, rather than the part where people find out how bad they are.
lmfao!!!

Let's face it, make good movies and the people will come.

I remember feeling the same way about Phantom Menace. The trailer looked divine, but yet I walked out of the theater midway through. Bad writing, terrible direction, wooden acting, etc. Fat Lucas has definitely lost his edge. I think with Star Wars..the first film that came out..well, lets just say he was VERY VERY lucky.

It's still making money hand over fist and there about a dozen or so camera torrents available online. I think they should just be happy this on time the movie was good enough that people felt it was worth seeing...in some cases more than once.
Why does it ALWAYS have to be about pirates and P2P? Their movie is breaking records and making a ton of money and they STILL are not happy.

While |I seem negative.. NO.. it's a decent movie, it could have been a great movie without all the cgi and the lack of imagination.. as it is it is a pretty good film, but in the scheme of things who will be talking about it in 5 years (months even)
ultimately like the last 2 years output.. clever cgi but no actual content.. flame on.. I'm a commercial file reviewer, I get paid for watching this crap!!.

to me, this movie earned its record-breaking spot.
i'm thinking about paying another $10 to see it again,
just for the joy of seeing 1080p projection of that film.
on the subject of the movie;
i thought it was the first superhero flick to totally break out of rut.
thought skeptical beforehand with critiques i'd read, i say believe the hype.
it was more like a crime drama, to me, than a comic book movie.
once the bat was perched high in gotham, i was thinking:
"wtf...there's a guy in a cape and mask in this movie!?"
almost seemed out of place.
until the last third or so, i didn't think they were going to squeeze in big explosions and car chases.

WTF all this over batman I mean how many sequels to batman are there.If they are going to release something they should release something original.Its like watching James Bond movies if you seen one you pretty much seen them all.

I would have to agree 100% with that comment Hollywood doesn't have anything that is worth watching.I'm constantly watching older movies,because nothing decent has came out or has been out in ages.The plots to some of the older movies are better than what we are seeing today.

This is like saying "the surge is working." Seriously, how about filming a great movie with quality acting/directing with huge buzz behind it? Do you think that had any part of it's success? This really is a disservice to Ledger, Eckhart, Bale, and Nolan. The execs are just trying to glom onto the success--Hollywood style!

ha ha ha i find this funny because most of your piraters are not from australia they are from the u.k and from russia so even if you placed measures people still got a pirated copy from some where.

Saying this movie didn't deserve the incredible turnout at the box office is really a slap in the face to the Great Actors & Christopher Nolan as Director. This is a Damn Great Movie! Yes, I paid & watched it.
I give credit to both Marvel for the re-booted "Incredible Hulk" and DC Comics for the re-booted "Batman". Both were seriously Great! I'll buy the DVD's when released. Of course, I am a diehard comic hero fan too. As far as "Piracy" is concerned, I don't think it had any effect on the outcome of the movie. Piracy will always be around. If Man makes it, Man will find a way to copy & or exploit it. Fact of life. Live with it Hollywood! The only way to keep a movie from being copied or pirated is not to make it.
My Opinions for what they are worth.

There is a strong and powerful need moving in the world that can and will only be met by true globalization and the true distribution of wealth; such a distribution may best be served by making it compulsory for all citizens (and anyone else) to have single bank accounts into which ALL income must go (this includes tips, income from boot sales etc).
The monies thus collected may then be organized for equal redistribution amongst all the relevant businesses utilizing an auto-distribution and carve-up program. This way will remove the consumer entirely from muddying up the waters of wealth acquisition and maintain a short, efficient flow path from wealth generation to wealth acquisition thus ensuring a more fair and equitable sharing amongst the wealth holders and owners.
Any previously ancillary staff, for example lawyers, politicians, lobbyists and their like, will be declared no longer necessary and they may be returned to the base raw material supply pool and be fitted with basic level RFID's with all balances to be set to and showing zero. Any further contact between them and the wealth stream is to be avoided in case of adulteration. Previously garnished but now unlawful wealth shall be recovered using any means up to and including the rendering and glue factories and shall be pursued up and until 10th level relations without excuse or favour.

Its this exact line of bullshit they'll use when their lobbyists are "Glad handing" politicians on capitol hill. Then a little back door cash, some free trips to exotic locales for the corrupt politicians, and voila more copyright legislation. I guess they have to test it out on the general public first to see if we choke it down.
@Tashammer
I like where your coming from. Seems like lunacy now, but give it a few years of "slow change" where we are slowly being herded into our pens.

what a load of rubbish this film was on the pirate bay the same day, but they have to state this to convince the common folk that giving up your liberties is a good thing as Hollywood can make a few extra "million" bucks.

Nine out of ten pirates are claiming losses on their piracy efforts due to hollywoods lackluster crop of movies last year. Pirates say, and I quote, "People won't even watch that crap for free."
Many pirates are having to go back to regular day jobs because of this. Its a sad day for all.
See, we can all make up ridiculous stories. If only "average" people had a voice like the corporate controlled media?

Bush Administration New Terror Front: Copyright Infringement Quote: The Bush administration careened into a new terror front Monday when it urged a federal judge to punish Jammie Thomas -- the nation's first music pirate to go before a jury -- in a bid to deter others from plundering the treasuries of the world's record labels.
