DVD Shrink does not do any burning. Shrink will create a disk image, the ISO file, or save it to your hard drive. What you have to do is take the ISO file and burn it to disk using Nero or Imgburn. If you saved it to your hard drive you can use Imgburn to make the ISO and then burn it to disk. I use Imgburn for all of my burning. It's the best tool I've used to burn DVDs and CDs.

Go into preferences and make sure you have Enable burning with Nero checked.

Which version of Nero are you using? DVDShrink and Nero 8 are not compatible with each other. Perhaps your friend is using an older version.

I am using Nero 6, so is my friend. He is getting the DVD drive E: to show up in his SELECT TARGET DRIVE list.
I tried using ImgBrn....I burned 2 DVD's, both DVD's DID NOT play in my DVD player...so for me ImgBrn has not worked yet.....
I did go to EDIT/Preferences and Enable burning with NERO is checked(ON).....still the DRIVE E: is not showing up...
My thanks to you all again.....

We can get you set up with ImgBurn if you can post the burn log.
Which did you install first? Nero or Shrink?

Hello,
Thanks for your quick reply.
How do I get the burn log.....?
I installed NERO later, after installing DVD shrink.....should I uninstall DVD shrink and install it again...so that NERO becomes installed before SHRINK....?
Thanks

Hi,
Only the DVD burner is connected to that USB drive...I don't see how there can be any multitasking at the USB port....
How do I slow down the Burn speed....bring it down to 4X or 6X....
Thanks

Hi,
I also tried to burn with NERO Recode 2....I got the IDEA/GUIDE for this approach from this afterdawn site....but the same situation happened again with NERO recode 2, the E: drive did not show up to target the out put...there is a guide in the after dawn site to use Nero RECODE...in that guide I can clearly see the drive name and the name of the DVD burner, but I am not getting it in either DVDshrink or Nero Recode 2...
Thanks

Multitasking can seriously affect your burning no matter how it's hooked up. Generally usb burning should be slower than internal burners. The firmware is a must.

hi,
In My PC, I have used AnyDVD and CLONE DVD before, and have burned many DVD's without any problem.
DVD shrink is free and will "shrink" large movies to 4.7GB, hence I am trying to get it going.
Multitasking was not an issue when I used AnyDVD and CloneDVD. I used these 2 softwares during the 21 day free trial period.
Thanks

jahan_lv, the advice that you have been given above is very good. You should definitely take it and follow it. Your firmware being outdated could have a lot of effect on the performance of your burner. As for the multitasking, I don't think dialysis meant that as simply having something else plugged in to your USB port, it means anything else other than the process at hand, be that burning, encoding, or ripping. Just because it wasn't an obvious problem in the past does not mean that it is a good idea.

Hello ALL,
My thanks to all of you for all your time, effort and advice. For a while I felt like I was the only one having this problem.
I will go out today and get a new DVD burner from Fry's, that should take care of the Firmware situation.
Thanks again
