hi guys, i'm hoping you might be able to help me, i have a us ps3 which i brought back with me when i moved back from the states. i'm running the power through a 240v to 110v convetrer that gives out 200watts power, i've been running it like this for a few weeks now and all has been fine but i went to turn it on last night and nothing came up on my tv, the power turns on and a disc will load and start spinning but thats all, when i turn the console on it sends a 480p signal to my tv but no picture or sound, the joypads wont even sync and when i press the power button it wont turn off, i have to use the switch on the back. the console is only 5 months old. its still under warrenty but it means sending it back to the states which will be a pain in the arse so i'm hoping its something simple,
TRy resetting the PS3 configurations by holding down the power button until you hear 2 beeps. When you turn on the PS3 after this it'll ask you to reconfigure the display settings, just choose sutomatic configure and see what happens.
What do yo mean by it doesnt work? It doesnt sound the second beep?
I had to reset my PS3 the other day as well, kept holding the button and only 1 beep. Dont know if I read the thing wrong but im pretty sure ppl said press and hold the power button whilst the PS3 is on. That didnt work so I pressed and held the button whilst it was off. Only then did it reset.
i've tried turning on from standby holding the power button, it beeps and turns on and beeps again about a second later, i release the button but the screen is still black.
i've also tried holding the power button while its turned on and i get no beeps, the console wont even shut down. also the controlers wont sync, i'm finding this strange because even if the ps3 wont send a signal to the tv i'm pretty sure the control pads should still connect to the console
