fpr anyone who wants to know if they can send your ps3bcak after its been opend i was told by "Jenny" (im in washington state of the united states) on the phone that yes i could. i read earlier that people could send it back for free if they said that after doing the 2.41 firmware they werent able to read disks. so i said mine didnt and that i had replaced the lens myslef and it only read blu ray fterwards. i said i wanted to pay the 150 and i also mentioned that i had broken a connector for the media card reader and asked if i could have that looked at. she sai yeah they might send you a new one but the tech department will make the call on how to hadle it. she also said very clearly that i would not be charged if they sent the ps3 back without anything being done to it.

so in the near future i will be updating you guys because i know i was wondering if i could.

well the results are in. I have received a refurbished PS3 back from sony that 100% works. But i lost my papers that had my serial # on it. But i called to get and exact description of my repair, they werent able to describe as there were no tech notes on the repair. The lady didnt sound too smart so maybe she didnt know where to find them. but fact of the matter is even if you open the ps3 and depending on what is broke, you can still have a ps3 returned. so maybe someone can send it back and get it for free now that sony will admit to the failure of the ps3. just remeber the magic words. "after the 2.42 update"
