I too had the same problem with the VobBlanker Program, and I too felt frustrated when ppl kept on saying to just do it and that was it, It Wasn't....
I found a solution to it, here is what you need to do:
*- Instead of processing all files at the same time Skip file "VIDEO_TS.VOB" and process it separately, then put all the files together in a single file..
You are NOW READY TO USE DVD Shrink for a 100% perfect replica...
I hope this helps you and anyone out there who has encountered this problem...

Help!!!! When I use Xpress Copy, after I do the first part of the process with the original DVD it tells me to insert the blank DVD, I do and then it instantly tells me copy complete. I have backed up hundreds of DVDs without problems, now this!! The only thing I see is that the DVD I normaly use is x4 -R and the DVDs I tried last night are x8 -R. Would that do anything?

OMG...!!!! whats so hard about importing a psl.file! It's very simple. I know a lot of you newbies use decrypter. Just try it and go on about using your normal methods.

sazaziel - is your coment for me? I'm not really even talking about Resident Evil. My question is just a general DVD XPress question.

I already tried that myself, but to no avail.. same error.
I also tried a number of combinations and variables -- No dice.
I am done with Blanker.
Now, I can't burn using decrypter because it won't let me import this file saved in notepad

Yes, I saved it as a PSL file. I made a file file association in folder properties to open this file in notepad.
I'm now getting this error with decrypter.
WTF...
*You guys better check your IDE in device manager if you used Shrink on this DVD. It reduced mine from DMA to PIO mode!! Because the disk would not read and Windows XP just changed the setting as a failsafe. Just uninstall the main IDE (the one above primary and secondary), reboot, and it will revert back to DMA.
Hey, the more you know!
Someone help me with importing that file with decrypter!
Jesus, this is like splitting atoms or something.

hctr3 no my comment is not directed towards you. As for your general question on the use of a different speed dvd-r it shouldn't make a difference. I've used different speeds ranging from 2x up to 16x. I currently use 2x for a better burn. As for DVDXpress copy...I tried that program last night as well. It doesn't work.
I've exhausted all of my programs for a straight 12 hrs.
The only easiest method I've concluded with is right clicking the patch directly from the decrypter forum and downloading the psl file. It takes no time at all.
choose the protected sectors list after decrypter reads the dvd. Choose import, find the location of where you downloaded the psl file on your pc and then your all set. Rip the whole dvd to keep everything. Then use DVD Shrink and back it up. The burning method is up to you. I choose to burn with the decrypter instead of Nero. I know everyone has there own methods but lets be realistic. When we want to back up something we paid for in order to keep the original merchandise in mint condition...we want to have everything but the CRP on our backed up discs..right.

climbhigh I already noticed what you did wrong. when you downloaded the patch you downloaded the actual list instead of the file. Go back to the site where you can dl the patch. right click the patch link and choose save target as. Choose the save location. It will automatically save itself as a psl.file .

DVD_VIDEO.PSL ( 310bytes ) Number of downloads: 1861
you do not click on the file. you have to right click, choose save target as, then download. It will automatically save as a psl.file .

climbhigh, you "don't need" the DVD_VIDEO.PSL file for DVD Decrypter from the forums, just copy and paste this into notepad and save as any-name you want. (Everything, the word PSL as well as the # sequences must be in the file). I saved it as DVD_VIDEO.PSL for simplicity.
PSL
184370-184400
184401-184431
184432-184462
184463-184493
184494-192543
192544-196079
1953828-2084899
2259324-2259354
2259355-2259385
2259386-2259416
2259417-2259447
2267504-2271039
4038680-4038749
4038750-4169821
4169840-4169909
Then click import list and select your newly created notepad file. P.S. The RE2 disc must be in the dvd drive for this to work.
Worked the very first try!! All that is left is to do the usual DvdShrink & Nero burn method.

I should imagine the makers of DVD Decrypter will make a general patch which will be included in their next update.

Well, I finally ripped it! Ripped with the updated list (thanks guys!), then I sent it to SHRINK, where I just replaced the pan & scan VOB with a still picture. I was then able to successfully burn without compression!!
Tune in next Tuesday for the newest release so we can cumulatively bang our head's against the wall once again...

I'm having the same problem here. I've tried DVD X Copy, DVD Shrink, DVD Decoder, and CD Check. I think the studios may have found something to prevent backups.
(But I hope, I'm wrong...)

I want to thank those of you who recommended VobBlank to rip Resident Evil Apocalypse. VobBlank worked when all my other programs didn't. This is the first time I have ever used DVD Shrink as well, and now I see why everyone brags about it.
Thanks again...

I figured I would find a thread on this DVD.
I have a brand new (dust free/scratch free) disc that has the exact problems described by all of you. I tried Shrink, Decrypter, and XCopy 4.0.3 - it hangs in every case. I even tried XRescue which works sometimes on bad discs, but it still hangs.
I plan on reviewing all of your suggestions to find out if I can make it work. While writing this I'm attempting the PSL import method with the latest bad sectors included - so far so good.
climbhigh - I got the same error message during the import of the PSL file. I went back to the file and deleted all of the spaces after each line (usually one extra space). I deleted the "PSL" line, then typed "PSL" manually on the first line (line 0). The file imported perfectly.
So far I am 47% finished with Decrypter process. I'll update you if it works. Thanks everyone!

Thanks goes to everyone on this thread, you guys helped me out a lot. I had the same problem, DVD Shrink didn't even get past the analysis stage (only got to about 15%), DVD X Copy froze at about 3 minutes into the read, and DVD Decrypter didn't get past 4%. I imported the PSL files and it worked just fine. I hope on DVD Shrink's next update that they fix this issue.
