Well, those instructions aren't working for me. when I go to my computer I don't see documents and settings. I don't know how to find the documents and settings to find the applications. Could my system be set up differently? I tried to make a snapshot of my screen so I could show you what I see but I don't know how to do that either. I was able to find some of the files and get rid of those but I don't know which movie they were from nor where to find the others. I still have about a fourth of my hard drive that has files on it that weren't there before I tried to copy those movies. Any other suggestions?

Looks like this in XP, are you running something different?
If you ran it through Shrink, you should either have VOB files or ISO files on your computer, you must have put them in a file somewhere.

I'm having a problem on step #4.
When fixing w/ FixVTS, What am I supposed to open at this point ?
# Step 4 - Cleanup with FixVTS
This is the last part of the wizard. FixVTS will process all titlesets to correct the structure of the DVD so it will open in DVD Shrink.
You can always do a test to see if the DVD will open up in DVD Shrink first. If it does, there should be no need to run FixVTS.
For a discussion on what the two options do, see section 3.4 of this guide.
1. Press the button.
* Note: The first time you use RipIt4Me, it may ask you for the location of your installed FixVTS program.
Browse to the location and double click on the FixVTS.exe file.
2. Press the button.
If you have not yet run FixVTS and the DVD has protected cells, this message will appear, warning you to run FixVTS first.
After FixVTS has completed its work, the files will be opened in DVD Shrink.
3. Press the button.
If you have enabled the setting "Save logs after rip" in the RipIt4Me Preferences window, the DVD Decrypter.log, the RipIt4Me.log and the temporary files will now be moved out of the VIDEO_TS folder to a conveniently named folder in your RipIt4Me application data folder.
You can read more about this function and how to change it in section 3.1.5 of this guide.

Use the 1Click Mode everything will be done automatically for you. Open RI4M, make sure your path to FixVTS is set correctly in your settings it should be C:/name of folder/FixVTS, You can also make sure you have the box checked for creation of a VTS folder this will save you from creating one. You can also uncheck Run DVD after Decrypter if you do not want the file to open in Shrink automatically.
Then choose 1Click mode and choose your movie and press go, everything will just open on its own.

Hey guys, I'm new here but I have been reading up on this thread. If I check the box for "remove unref. video" will this take out the special features and stuff? The reason I say this is because on most older DVDs, when I use DVDShrink, trailers and special features are often marked "unreferenced material." Also, I wanna make sure to remove protected cells, but DON'T remove tiny cells?

@Ausgirl
Did you run the file through Shrink and create an iso for Decrypter to burn. Was that option selected on your backup screen?

arniebear....
I have no idea LOL
It went through shrink and that's all I know.
How can I tell if an ISo file was created?
I followed the instructions on page 1 of this thread, now I am getting C Windows error message and RI4M shuts down.
i dont know whats wrong, maybe my setting in shrink or decrypter are wrong?
Also my HDD memory is quite low.
If someone could walk me through step by step, maybe in an email or something?
I don't know?

I've been trying to copy my son's wedding DVD with Nero but haven't been able to. Since I couldn't just copy the DVD I thought it might be encrypted so I've tried using RipIt4Me and the other programs I've downloaded with it. It's giving me error messages so I click on try again over and over. I've tried to click on ignor and that didn't work either. I'm at a loss as to how to copy this DVD. I've already used these programs to make copies of a couple of movies so this isn't my first attempt at it although I do sometimes have trouble. I can't even get it to download the files. I had ordered 2 DVD's of the wedding and can't use either one. Do you have any idea if copying a photographers wedding DVD would be different from a movie? If so what can I do to make copies of it? I really want to have several copies of this because it's very precious to me. Any suggestions? One day I may not need to ask all of these crazy questions but for now I seem to run into one problem after another. I appreciate all of the help and instructions I've gotten.

What progams have you tried? Maybe DVD Decrypter in iso read and then iso write mode may work for this. Just open Decrypter and choose iso read in your mode tab, when done they use iso write to burn. Cannot believe this is an encrypted DVD. What is the file extension showing for the video on the DVD?

We are all new Myreltr, don't fret upon not knowing, the only thing we ask here at AD is to pass along your learned knowledge to other newbies and junior members when they need help. Do as Arnie suggests, try DVDDecrypter, avail here, and see what happens.
http://www.filehippo.com/download/3d90e4...8d6d1/download/
another option, try cleaning your disk gently with windex, removng smudges and/or fingerprints. Keep on trying, try ripping on a friend's computer using a DVD-RW burner if at all possible. Often times the disks are hard to copy because the professionals use the cheap media, (Ack...CMC-MAG) and they burn them at maximum speed, ensuring lots of write errors. Trust me, we'll be able to figure out a way to copy this one for you, just give us as much info as possible.

I'm trying. I decided to try to other copy of the DVD since I had bought 2 of them. I'll see what happens with that one. My husband has a machine that cleans and repairs DVD's and CD's. He's never used it so we might have to try that. I'm getting ready to try this DVD to see if it might work better. I've been trying the DVD Decrypter in the iso read mode as suggested. It didn't work on the first DVD I tried but I'll see how it does with this one. I'm glad I bought 2 copies of the wedding. I actually bought 3 but I gave one of them to my son and his bride. I can't get that one because he's in the U S Airforce and is stationed in Japan. I'll have to make due with the ones I have. I'll let you know if I get it to work or not. Thanks.

Didn't work. After about only 5 minutes it started giving me the error messages again. How can I show you the error message that I saved by printing my screen? That might help.

For and Image
1. Hold down the alt and prn screen keys.
2. Open the Paint Program in the Accessories Folder in your Start Menu.
3. Hold down the Control and v keys and the screen image of the program should come up.
4. Save it as a png file.
5. You will then need to find a host site for your image. Free ones with limited monthly bandwidth are http://www.imageshack.com and http://www.photobucket.com You need to sign up.
6. Upload your image to the site.
7. Copy and paste the img file tag into your post. I use photobucket and it will list the img tag.
8. When you have the image tag in the post you need to change the uppercase Img to lowercase img e.g.
Wrong......[Img]pic file[/Img]
Right......[img]pic file[/img]
To find out what file extension this is, just go into My Computer and then use the Folders tab. Go down to the drive and highlight and see what kind of file is on it, whether it is VTS or what. This is a DVD and not a CD right.

Hi All..I am trying again with a different DVD. I re-downloaded and re-installed everything except FIXVTS, because it was failing at this part. I think the problem is with DVD Decypter. Does anyone have a snapshot of the setting that should be use for DVD Decypter?
Thanks!

Make sure you have the latest RipIt4Me version and that you have all the paths correct for DVD Decrypter and Fix VTS. If it is shutting down on FixVTS then you do not have the path correct. Make sure the path is directed to the FixVTS program exe. Try using RipIt4Me in 1Click mode after you have made certain your settings are right.
