Try using verbatim 2.4x, those are the ones you should be using.

I use these but when I press the write speed I only put it to a maximum of 2.4x. I already had 3 coasters. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. PLEASE HELP.

you need to upgrade the firmware on your burner to version 1.29. should work then. also don't run any programs while burning.

sounds like something is wrong with your drive. are all cables secure. do you have the master/slave settings right? is it able to read discs without error? i don't know too much about the 111D. my drive is a pioneer dvr-109, so i can't offer much help. i would try another burner if you have one and see if that works.

Does anyone know if i am REQUIRED to buy the pioneeer111d? I already have a sony dru 710a DL dvd burner. i heard that you need the pioneer one because the dvd drive needs to be booktyped. However, im pretty sure that my dvd drive can alos be booktyped as other people on these forums have done it too.
So two questions:
1. can i use my sony dvd burner instead of the pioneer one?
2. if so, all i have to is booktype my sony DL dvd burner in order to sucsfully burn xbox 360 games?

on a side note, if your downloading xbox 360 games, do you still need the samsung drive? or is that just for when you insert original xbox 360 games and for the game to be read?

thanks

the burner you have now should work just fine, as long as it can booktype. you should also set the layer break at 1913760 and burn at 2.4x for best compatibility.

the 111D is just the most popular burner for 360 backups, because it will automatically booktype for you.

you don't need the samsung drive if you are downloading, however, make sure you are only downloading games you own, otherwise this is considered piracy, which is illegal. good luck.

Hey there Duga. You've been helping me a lot and now I need your help once again....lol :)... OK I was able to upgrade my firmware to 1.29 In Safe Mode. I kept on trying it and trying it and finally got the idea of doing in safe mode. Anyways, I tried backing up the game again and it says the same thing. It gives me the same error number. What else can it be? I have backed up some movies I have successfully with this burner already. Any ideas? THANK YOU.

i really can't think of anything else to try. did you try using another program to burn? i use imgburn all the time for burning purposes, and never had a problem with it, but maybe something is conflicting with this program. you can try using CloneDVD or xbox backup creator.

if this doesn't work, i would try a clean install of windows, making sure you backup everything you don't want lost. i have done this before to "clean up" the hard drive, and found that the performance of the computer increases and sometimes errors that would normally occur, go away.

other then that, i really don't know what else you could do. hopefully you get the problem sorted out. good luck.

i am not too sure about the patching. i use my samsung kreon drive to read the discs and haven't downloaded any.

you should be able to just download and burn. if you want to make sure they are patched, just download them and run xbox backup creator. under image tools, you can check to make sure the images are patched before burning. hope this helps.

What should my write speed be x2, x2.4 or x4? I burned at x4 and it did not work.

Hey guys was having problems with my Pioneer DVR-111D, it kept on shutting my pc down when I write to DVD. My fix was that I had an old Dell DVD drive: Philips DVD8601. I converted my Philips DVD8601 to a BenQ DW1600, then to a BenQ DW1620. Updated to the newest firmware and burns backups 100%.

Burn at 4x with Verbatim DVD+R DL discs and you won't have any problems.

I tryed to use Nero and clonecd and neither one of them worked. the games don't play. does the burner matter. sorry about the caps

if youre talking about xbox 1 games for the xbox 1 (not 360) use stomp recordnow max to burn the game iso.

I had bought the pioneer 111d and updated the firmware.
I had a problem of the burner shutting off my pc completely during a burn.
After many coasters(DVD+R not dl thank goodness), I fixed the problem.
With my pc I needed to use a single 80 pin cable, the one without the primary master and primary slave in one.
After I found that, Works Everytime!
or you could have just solved your problem by setting the correct jumper on your dvdrw drive (cable select usually works every time, no matter what ide connector you use)

I've checked all my settings in the BIOS, and even made my harddisk the first boot option. I also tried making my PCrom bootable with xp in it, and it won't boot from that. I don't have an onboard SATA controller. My PC boots fine without the xbox drive connected, so I'm stumped with why this is happening.

I've also tried ejecting the xbox drive as mentioned, but it hasn't helped.

Any ideas on this?

Thanks

Change the boot order on your bios setttings, see if that sorts it for you
