sorry to keep posting, i was positive i had everything under control
i have all the proper versions of the software needed. I have VIA chipset 8237 that works for this drive. (so said other ppl)
i have my sata ports enabled , and i have to options RAID or IDE, i have it set to IDE not raid coorect? I have 4 options to choose from when i type mtkflash etc... in dos, i have primary ide , secondary, Xtreme primary, and VIA 8237, i selected 8237, and as soon as i hit the number 4 , (which is my VIA ) it says port f800 A0 , then i turn on the 360 and it still says the same thing, then when i hit escape, it says status 80 should be 70, im not sure what im doin wrong :( perhaps i need to get that VIA card u suggest

u shuld connect an ide cd/dvd drive. its one of the steps everyone skips because they all have it and 90% of the time it also has a mediatek chip. mine didn't so i tried this other lg drive and it worked.

I can't open my DVD drive on the 360 at all and there is a red light that shows up when connected. I have a Samsung MS25 with a VIA VT6421A chipset on its way. If I follow the tutorial on page 1, will this be fixed, or do I need to get a new drive on the way? I have the ORIG.bin, and the corresponding key. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

ur drive prolly died. redlight is a hardware error. try reflashing ur drive. 0800 disc might be needed. im not sure but that is wat some person used when his jammed he opened it and put it in. about the 0800 disc i have no idea. but reflashing will help.

From what I have been reading, I don't know that the 0800 disc will help me, but I will try to reflash. Thanks for your help!

ha9981 ,
We have a 50k limit on sigs. Yours is 277k so I need you to get it within the specs laid out in the forum rules (link in my sig).
My killer sig came courtesy of bb "El Jefe" mayo.

ok i got one more question as i will be doing this with 3 differnt 360 drives (my friends and mine)....<> we have not opened our 360's yet to see what kind of firmware we have on our samsung drives (yeah we all have samsungs).. but they bought theirs early 2006 and i bought mine in november so i think mine will prolly have m28 for sure and theris prolly m25.....i will be using this guide for all of the 360's and i already understand to do the same thing except the 10 second thing.. but when i edit the mtkflash settings with xbm for the ms25 drives, should i still leave the checkmarks checked( ms28 bad flash compatibility and boke's patch for ms28 drives) or shuould i uncheck them
i already know the answer is gunna be to uncheck em but im extremely skeptical right now
so just if u would leave a comment i would end this heart attack im having right now<<>>
thx for the guide and all the awesome help on everything

As long as you're following this guide with the VIA 6241, the only differences you need to address is with the m25. Uncheck both checkmarks in xtreme bootmaker and use a seperate floppy (I have floppies set up already for M25 and M28 drives)
Once in dos with the MS25, you don't need to turn the 360 off and do the 10 second trick, only use the 10-sec trick when you're trying to upgrade a ms25 and don't want to use the enable0800 disc to unlock the firmguard.
If you have any particular questions during or after the flash, I'll address them personally.

I used Xtreme 5.2A for my MS-28. All of the games work flawlessly with Verbtaim DVD+R DL discs burnt at 4x with CloneCD.

CloneCD supports writing to DVD+R DL discs. That's what the .dvd file is for. It's a cloneCD control file.

I had a couple of problems with clone cd in the past, then others have gone flawless, either way you can still use IMGBurn but manually insert the layerbreak to be 1913760

I've flashed plenty of times without doing just because I forgot, but for safety reasons it's best to do it so you want screw anything up.
