OMG dudes i just flashed perfectly....
my friend that is gonna have me do his too came and helped me open it up and then i connected all the shit and did it...perfectly
when i opened it i was surprised that is was a ms25 cause i bought it in November of 06 so i thought definately ms28..
but everthing went well and i am very happy this worked... i also used the exact guide on page1 excluding the program to check the keys (i think its called 360 toolbox) and also i had my Gears of War disk in while i did it and it still worked so NOTE THAT YOU CAN HAVE A DISK IN THE DRIVE WHEN FLASHING ATLEAST WITH THE MS25 DRIVES><
but i cant wait to start rippin games and shit dude
omfg
but i have one question about the xreme0800.iso disk..
when i burn that, do i also need to put in a layer break or no???

i just figured out that u cant set layer break shit on a regular dvd so the answer is no

Glad it worked for you. Now remember to use Verbatim DVD+R DL discs and burn at 4x.

but im stuck on step 9. it tells me when i open my orig.bin with firmware toolbox 3.0: runtime error '6' overflow
what should i do?

Hitachi - Get a SIL3112 PCI SATA card and use SLAX to get it in modeB.
Boot into windows and run the opa2.3 stealth rev2 package
Hitachi 0078 - use FW toolbox and VIA 6241
0800 disc only used to unlock firmguard on xtreme 4+ firmware. Xbox needs to be in 0800 to rip games. To use, burn to a DVD9 (DL) if using anything under xtreme5 and to a DVD5 if using xtreme5+
Turn on 360, insert 0800 disc, count to 20, eject disc and boot PC. Drive is now in 0800 mode.

can i use a via 6241 for hitachi?
Yeah but I'd suggest using a SIL3112 if you have it for the other hitachi drives (all but 0078)
The 6241 may work, I just throw in my SIL3112. I think if you do use the 6241, use Slax 2.1

so i flashed my friends drive yesterday and another successfull flash all the way
thanks again..<>
but i have one problem that still persists...
I have connected my 360 drive to my pc again to rip games onto my pc using schtrom360xtract....so i connected my drive
put in the 0800 disk for like 20 seconds and then booted,...
when i booted it got to the windows xp loading screen an just frooze there..<>
i think it is a problem with scsi drivers in windows even though i installed the drivers for my via chip in windows xp>>>note that my computer is from 1999 and is all ide interface except for the via pci sata card i bought for my 360....
and i also i go into msinfo32 and i sees the via chip and everything is fine ith all the irQ's and DMa's and shit
so it sees it fine but it cant use a perhiperal (my 360 drive connected to it)...its kinda weird
but if you guys have any suggestions that would be kewl

Eject the drive and leave it open as windows is booting.

dude i tried that i put the 0800 disk in then i ejected it and just left it out while trying to boot the Pc and it still did that..<>

This worked like a charm, although I had to DL bootmaker from a different source. Thanks for a guide PS2menace. I've flashed at least a dozen 360s, but I just did my 1st ms28 today with this guide.

Thanks PS2 for the awesome tutorial. I just have a few questions (sorry newbie).
I have a ms25 drive, I would still load Xtreme 5.2A, check 'use custom MKTFLASH, uncheck both ms28 option and follow the tutorial on page 1 right? From your tutorial which (number) steps do I not need to follow. Also IOrificeI menton that 360 firmware toolbox was not needed. If you would assist me on which (number) steps I need to skip from your ms28 tutorial it will greatly be appriciated. Thanks
