First format your mem stick. This will create the correct folders. Then put your ISO's or CSO's in the ISO folder. Then just run them from the xmb under the game icon.

I have found for best performance you will want to diable the no umd option in the recovery menu. Boot PSP while holding the R button, then goto configuration look for "use NO-UMD" disable it. You will have to have a UMD in the drive for games to run with this disabled, but I have a lot of games that don't run with NO-UMD enabled.

Also go under advanced, advanced configuration. Make sure "Use isofs driver also in UMD - Inserted mode" is disabled.
Somehow mine got enabled after upgrading to 3.40oe-A and my iso's would no longer run. It took me awhile to find it. I just started poking around and crossing my fingers, and disabling that made them work again.

Hope this helps.

Hey guys, I'm a n00b to the PSP custom firmwares, but have been using devhook for a while now. I was thinking about making the move to 3.30 OE-A and wanted to ask some questions. Yes, I did try to search for answers to these questions, but couldn't find what I wanted to know which is why I'm asking here and now. :)

Anyway -

1) Since it's supposed to do all that devhook does, I assume that means that it also emulates the various firmwares?
2) Since this is a firmware we're talking about here which will write to flash (unlike devhook), then obviously there's a chance it can brick your PSP, but what kind of percentage are we talking here?
3) Do the custom firmware version numbers coincide with the official firmwares (i.e Sony's 3.30 = 3.30 OE-A)?
4) I had downgraded my PSP a long while back to 1.5, but in order for me to install 3.30 or 3.40 will I need to have an earlier custom firmware installed first or can I just install the current version directly?

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

@atar3on
1)not sure what you meant by this question, but if you use 3.30OE-A you can play all UMD's and ISO's that require this firmware or lower
2)yes theres a chance to brick your psp, but only if you do something wrong when following the instructions, so just make sure you know what youre doing and itll be good, i recommend 3.40OE-A
3)yess sony3.30 = 3.30OE-A, everything you can do in sony 3.30 you can do in 3.30OE-A plus all the homebrew capabilities, xmb customization..etc
4)are you on 1.5?then yes you can go straight to 3.30OE-A or 3.40OE-A from there, if you already have a custom firmware i believe you can, its all in the readme when you download the custom firmware

Hey all just thought I'd put up this link. I've used the downgraders and installers from this page and they work great. You can trust this site. Calo has done a great job putting everything in an easy to find one stop shop. All downgraders and installers are very easy to use, pretty much does it all for you.

Hope this helps someone.

I'll be sure to check it out, thanks.

BTW, can anyone tell me what the Recovery Menu is that I've heard mentioned before? And how do you access it?

recovery menu has options which can change the way your psp operates... access it via a coldboot and holding the right shoulder trigger.

Just a quick question about an ISO with 3.30 OE-A. I got 3.30 OE-A installed and everything is running great except one thing. I am trying to play an ISO of "Ratchet and Clank Size Matters" and when I start the game it says "Game could not be started" I have sucessfully ran a other ISO's and they work fine. Also, I tried another ISO of the same game and got the same error message. I was just wondering if there are settings or something I could try to change to make it work or if there are just some games that are incompatible.

-Thanks-

Didn't someone else on the forums recently say they had to enable/disable something within the Recovery Menu for their ISOs to all work? I can't recall who it was or which setting he changed though. Sorry. :(

@sk8flawzz
I thought the same thing so I downloaded the same game, from a different source and got the same results. Im not too worried about it, I could always go rent it before I buy it, I just hate buying games before I try them. Its far too easy to waste $30, $40, $50 on a game that isnt worth 2 cents. If you think of anything else please let me know.

Thanks for the info

Yes you can upgrade straight to a higher oe firmware no recovery necessary. Here's a link: http://homepage.eircom.net/~pspcalo/3.40oe.html The downloads are at the bottom of the page. Just so you know this is a great firmware. I installed on day 2 of it's release and have had no problems.
