Ok so i thought i would offer something different to everyone on aD a little riddle for you guys and gals to figure out. So here it is...
Apparently this is a real 5th grade math problem. If you can open the spreadsheet, you'll see that only a small list of people (older than 5th graders) have gotten the correct answer. This is not a trick question.
This is a real math problem so don't say that a bus has no legs.
There are 7 girls in a bus.
Each girl has 7 backpacks.
In each backpack, there are 7 big cats.
For every big cat, there are 7 little cats.
Question: How many legs are there in the bus?
Good luck one and all...

I think the real question about that riddle should be why each girl has seven backpacks.
Also, if you count the bus driver, as well as legs on the chairs (assuming it's a regular school bus with 25 2/3 [26 for simplicities sake] seats with four legs per seat), then the answer is 11,096.

I still don't believe how somebody can not only get it wrong but be told by somebody else they got it right.
It's really simple to get the right answer..
7 girls
49 backpacks
343 big cats
2058 small cats
= 2401 cats total.. which we assume have 4 legs each
9604 legs on cats
but we forgot the girls.. so add 7x2 = 14 which gives us a grand total of legs.. ta da!!..
9618
That's with all the available data.. we know nothing about the bus seats or any driver.. so those possibilities must be excluded for lack of information ;)

Sorry, varnull, but I got the same answer as loco.
Your math gets off when you do the small cats. There are 2401 small cats and not 2401 cats in total.
(Recheck 343 * 7).

Sorry varnull, LOCO has the correct answer.
7G X 2L = 14 legs
7G X 7BP = 49BP
49BP X 7 BC = 343BC
343BC X 7LC = 2401LC
ergo 343BC + 2401LC = 2744 CATS X 4 L = 10,976 cat legs +14 girl legs=
10,990
There is no driver mentioned and since seats are not mentioned, you can't count them, because you don't know how many the bus has.
