Anyone notice the ability to create PS2 cards on the 40GB?

is it just lazy and sloppy programming or just a hint of possible full software emulation?

personally i think the Sony included it for maybe future hope of the PS2 BC been integrated in a firmware release or is it just someone who cant be bothered creating an edited update for the 40GB console which removes it?

Firmware wise im sure sony could distinguish between each model by detecting hardware differences... an If statement in itsprogramming could solve the issue..

Rumor (I repeat RUMOR) has it that firmware 2.5 will bring some ps2 BC.
