Hi all :)....i have a 160 GIG SATA HDD and i went to install it (cause i heard that you just put it in and it does it`s thing) anyway when i had it in the Ps3 it told me that there was no system software it will not start and to press the PS button to restart and try again so my question is now i wonder if it needs to be FATx format to work ......oh and its a HDD out of a macbook so i got rid of the 200MB partition on it too ! so im stumped and put the factory one back in ....so any advice would be good thanks all !

No not at the time ....i figured it out early this morning i was like a zombie walking over to it to turn it on and i started doing things i thought of while i was sleeping .....turns out all i had to do was go on the playstation website get the update data use a USB drive and renamed a few folders and it worked it just needed the update data to work with so it could format im guessing but working like a top now and after my restore ill have my PS3 back! but thanks for the jesture of help !
