Hey recently whenever i go onto my playstation 3 and play call of duty 4 online half way thru a match it will disconnect me from the internet and log me out of psn. this is the same with my computer atm because whenever i download something the internet just shuts down. to get it back up and running again i have to turn the router and modem plugs of for about 20 secs and then i have to turn them back on wait another 20 seconds and it will be working again.
is there a solution for this ?
thanks

No problem. Let me know how it goes if you do buy a new router.

Dlink is bad. I had a WBR-2310 if that's the one you have and I used to have random disconnects with it. Go Linksys, it's the best and most expensive. I am running a WRT54G with Micro DD-WRT firmware and its been stable for about 6 months so far.

it doesnt mean his router is def dieing something as little as a cordless phone can cause a router to drop its signal n it has to be power cycled, could even be ur MTU size also, theres lots of things and if ur gunna get a router cisco is where u want to be sumthing like linksys or better from them.

Hold off on piss poor advice about replacing the modem unless you know it's stuffed, start with the basics first also i assume your on ADSL.
Remove all phones ,faxes, answer machines & printers if connected from all phone wall jackpoints in the house including other computers etc & filters etc all you want is the computer connected
If available use another wall socket to see if that connects without dropping
If still no go take comp back to original jack point & change cable from modem to filter
Still no good,change ether cable
Still no go change filter
at this point it would be best to contact isp & get them to do a line test it will reveal any issues with their lines or expose any issues with yours
if still no go get the isp technician out to check the phone jacks it won't take them long to find out if it's those at fault or if he says alls ok, the only things left are, modem, cable, ether cable or filter
PS: It would be best to use new adsl filter as they can be mongrels of things especially the cheapo's,the cable can be substituted by the phone's cable for the test purposes depending on the ends it has,it is possible to by pass the filter altogeather if you don't have a new one spare, & connect the modem as if it were a phone but you'll need the correct cable for the test

I'm just saying it is the router because if you look on PlayStation forums, many people are having problems with Dlink routers.

I've had a lot more problems with linksys than d-link personally, as long as you leave the d link's as default as possible I find they work very well.
There's only 1 complaint I have about d-link's though, they heat up a lot. I keep mine on a small cookie rack so it doesn't cook itself.

Topic starter never mentioned D-link,all modems have LED indicator lights that change colour if there's an issue, the light marked "sys" that continually flashes green is saying modem is ok.

Well, Mine is a Linksys running DD-WRT. Possibly why I am not seeing issues. Before I got the router from my friend he was having many problems with it on default firmware.

I think your modem is at fault. Who is your ISP and what modem do you have?

I will. My PSN is core2kid.
For ISP, are you in the US?
The modem should have a brand on the back or bottom. If its tall and white it could be Motorola.
ISP is Internet Service Provider.
