PS3 hooked up to large LCD in the lounge using HDMI, no issues. Apartment is hardwired to serve inputs and outputs in each room using Cat5 so existing setup is DVD, Netgear Entertainer etc all inputs in the lounge so i can watch them anywhere in the apartment by patching them through to the outputs in each room. Can I use HDMI AND the AV out on the PS3 to enjoy BluRay in the lounge and divx etc in other rooms in the apartment?
Sounds like you have a nice wiring set up in your house. The only problem that you would have is that when you want to view the display in another room, you will have to go to the last place (type of video out) setup that you were using and use that type of display to change to the new video out that you want. You can always hold the power button for @5 seconds and the PS3 will go to the original setting of Component video.
Thanks for the input. Understood. Was just wondering if the AV out could remain a static output whislt using HDMI for a single display and have the AV output in order to watch DVD, DIVX etc piped through to the hub which can then be accessed in each room. The Netgear unot does it adequately but does not support MKV or .264 for example.
It is a nice setup, took me ages to configure but works like a dream and can switch from cable, freeview, dvd and xvid independantly in each room! Happy days!
