My name is Fred from Tampa, fla and Im new here. I hope I am in the right forum. I need a mother board for my ps3 cechh01 and I found a seller on ebay that has one for the cechg01 and I wondered if anyone here knows if these two models use the same mother board? I goggled for this but came up empty.

I'm sure they do use the same motherboard. The things you'll need to check are:

1) Make sure the blue ray controller board comes with the motherboard
2) Make sure the power connector is in the same spot (some of the prongs that stick up into the power supply are on the left side some are in the back)
3) Make sure the darn thing works :)

Here is the reason I need the new mother board. My unit will not power on and just has the blinking red light. I sent my unit to a place called tech restore in concord,calif and they told me my main logic board was bad and that their repair cost would be $189 for the new mother board plus labor. I told them just to ship it back to me.

I finally found some information on the mother boards. The cechh01 has a different mother board lay out than the cechgo1. I guess its either find one with my same model number or just sell mine for parts.

That figures. It could still be used, but you'd need a new blue ray drive and new power supply :(

I have goggled everywhere and I cant find any disassembly pictures for the cechho1. I have a three wire white plug coming off the front of the power supply and I cant find a female plug anywhere to plug the male into. This is driving me nuts. lol

What color is your power supply? If it's shiny silver, it goes to the older motherboard. The newer motherboards have black power supplies which have the metal prong connectors in the back of it and the three wire molex style in the front left. The silver ones are opposite.

Mine is the black plastic and I have the three white wire small plug in the front but its the other end of the plug that I cant find a place to plug it in. ??

I wish I knew, I haven't taken apart one of the newer style ones yet, I'm sorry.

Maybe the connector is underneath a bit? Do the two metal prongs sticking up out of the motherboard meet up with the power supply in the correct place?

Yes, the two metal prongs fit right in exactly where the power supply fits. I have looked all over this sucker for the socket for that three white wire plug. I disconnected it a few days ago and dumb bunny me, I cant remember where I disconnected it from. lol

I spent about an hour looking online for at least a good picture of the darn new motherboard and couldn't find anything. I wish I was more help to you but I haven't yet gotten my hands on one of those newer style units.

I sure want to thank you for trying. I did discover why I couldnt find the power supply female plug. When I uninstalled the power supply, I not only removed the power supply plug but have the male end of the plug with it. In other words I pulled the socket out of the mother board. Now I gotta find out where the darn socket fits and see if I can get it back on the mother board. I got to be the dumbest guy in the country. lol

Well I have one. lol I guess we will see. The mother board is bad anyway. Its going to be hard to find one like mine with most of them under warranty still. I put a wanted to buy on ebay. Maybe some seller will eventually have a mother board that is not too expensive to sell me. Thanks again for being so nice. fred
